There are really only a few hours left until UCI Gran Fondo World Championships which for four days will transform Trento into the world capital of Gran Fondo.
From the 15 to the 18 September the Trentino capital will once again host a big event of cycling after having been the scene of the European championships on the road last year. The rainbow jerseys of the UCI Gran Fondo World Championships will be awarded in TrentoThe event is organized in synergy by the Company for the Trento Monte Bondone Tourism and from Trento Eventi Sport.
At the press conference to present the World Championships, held a few days ago, the organizing committee proudly presented the event's official uniform. It was created by Santini, historic official partner of the UCI World Championships in various specialties.
Homage to Trento
The uniform is a tribute to the city of Trento. The graphic composition, with simple, striking lines, expresses the local culture and its historical connection to the world of cycling. On the shirt you can find the battlements of the Buonconsiglio Castle, one of the symbols of the city, placed next to a bicycle wheel similar to the TrentoRide logo. This is the brand that identifies the meeting between the city and the bike as a means of discovering an area of undoubted charm.
The design project takes shape on the shirt with a linear design that unites the front and back, adding a further touch of color on the pockets and collar. The use of only three colors (blue, yellow and green) effectively and simply summarizes the three elements that most characterize this territory: culture, nature and sportThis color choice is also found in the shorts and other items of clothing, lending linearity and harmony to the small graphic variations adopted.
Style and performance
Going into detail, for the jersey Santini has chosen the Tono UV model, characterised by a slim, high-performance fit. Made from super-light Think Opaco fabric, it features raw-cut Bodyfit sleeves to ensure perfect harmony between body and fabric. It features a practical long covered zip, reflective details and an elastic band with internal silicone gripper. On the back we find an additional pocket with zip closure.
Matching the shirt are the Kevo shorts. They are made of Thunderbike Power fabric and Lycra MonicaThey're finished with raw-cut elastic grippers at the bottom of the leg, and reinforced breathable mesh braces. They're a perfect blend of classic fit and durability.
The entire kit will be available for purchase at the event headquarters during the four days of competition.
Let's discover the event
The organizing committee has put together a truly packed program. It kicks off on Thursday, September 15th, with the 19,6-kilometer time trial.
The show will be performed on Friday evening the Team Relay, the team relay race on a ring of about 2 kilometers, which does not involve the awarding of a rainbow jersey but which promises great emotions and fun.
The first ever edition of the Charly Gaul-Monte Bondone Hill Climb Powered by Athlete, the individual test aimed at unqualified athletes.
The grand finale on Sunday with the assignment of the rainbow jerseys for the Mediofondo (86,8 kilometres) and the Granfondo (143,8 kilometres), with Monte Bondone standing as the supreme judge of the challenge.
Throughout the event, from the Wednesday before the event until Sunday, the Le Albere district of Trento will be the beating heart of the Gran Fondo World Championships. An open-air amusement park has been set up here adjacent to the start and finish area.In the same area, children and teenagers will also be able to try out the Sportler Pump Track to test their skills.
