The innovation of the cap

While the bottle is now a tradition, this year's big novelty is... the cap. Astoria has in fact chosen the Giro bottle to use, for the first time in the world, the new cap NOMACORC Pops by Vinventions. The main feature of this synthetic cork, created after five years of research and testing, is that it guarantees the same mechanical properties as a normal cork and optimal preservation of the carbon dioxide dissolved in the bottle. but with complete sensory neutrality and without risk of TCA (or TriChloroAnisole, the molecule that causes the typical "cork taint" and is usually due to fungi present in the cork). But it is also a further step on the path to sustainable development for the wine world.

“Pops,” said Antonino La Placa, Commercial Director for Vinventions Italy and South-East Europe, “offers the competitive advantage of being the only closure for sparkling wines with a net-neutral carbon footprint and designed to be recyclable. This partnership marks a significant step towards sustainability in the wine industry and we are extremely proud to be the first in Italy to be involved in this pioneering project.

«Astoria Wines' decision to adopt NOMACORC Pops closures is a recognition of the value and innovation we bring to the marketWe are confident that this will help redefine sustainability standards in the industry, while offering a high-quality solution for the preservation of sparkling wines."

360-degree sustainability

An innovative project that needed a major sparkling wine brand to put it to the test and found an ideal partner in Astoria.

«We have always been attentive to innovation – added Astoria CEO Filippo Polegato – but also to continuous improvement and a 360-degree concept of sustainability, whether social, environmental or cultural, We enthusiastically launched this innovative collaboration with a leading company like VinventionsAnd after months of testing, what better opportunity than to make my debut with the Giro d'Italia?
