Heart and cycling

Behind this beautiful collaboration, however, there is above all a story of authentic cycling. A story that bears the name of the Vighini family and Autozai, a company deeply linked to the Verona area and the world of two-wheelers.

It all began with Fausto Vighini, born on October 27, 1932, in the small village of Venera, in the Verona plain. A successful entrepreneur in the automotive industry, but above all, a sportsman and avid cycling enthusiast. At his side, throughout his life, his wife Nella and his sons Nicola and Andrea, who grew up breathing in the culture of racing and cycling.

In 1975 Fausto Vighini founded the historic Opel Vighini dealership in Legnago. Over the years the company has grown by expanding its presence with important brands such as Opel, Peugeot, Citroën, DR and KTM as regards bicyclesToday the business is carried on by Andrea with his son Michael and by Nicola with his children Micol and Nicolas, confirming the company's strong family identity.

But the name Autozai-Vighini has also entered history thanks to the youth cyclingPatron Fausto has never sought personal visibility. He preferred to invest in young players, building a team that over the years has become a benchmark for countless Italian talents. Among the most prestigious names is that of Davide Rebellin, who wore the Veronese team's jersey in 1990 after winning the 70-kilometer junior world title. An unforgettable figure for Italian cycling as a whole.

But champions such as Eros Poli also passed through Autozai-Vighini, Olympian and world champion in the 100 kilometers, as well as riders who in the following years have reached professionalism and the highest international levels. Between these Edward Affini, Luca Mozzato, Filippo Zana, Italian professional champion in 2022, and Alessio Magagnotti, one of the last promises grown in the Veronese nursery.

A sporting tradition that continues today. With the same passion as always. And which now also accompanies the daily work of the bici.PRO editorial team along the roads of the Giro d'Italia... and beyond.
