Mark Cavendish is racing in the Tour de France with a truly special bike. Or rather, a Wilier Filante SLR with a special paint job...

The British sprinter is just one victory away from reaching a point where no one has reached before. Mark Cavendish is in fact chasing his thirty-fifth stage victory this year at the Tour de France, a success that would allow him to break the current record of thirty-four victories shared with one of the greatest riders in the history of cycling: Eddy Merckx.

Cavendish is chasing the prestigious record aboard a special edition Wilier Filante SLR, created during a visit by the rider himself to the Wilier Triestina headquarters in Rossano Veneto.

«The Filante SLR is the perfect bike for me – said Mark Cavendish – but for this year at the Tour I asked to be able to have something moreEveryone has their own tastes, and that's why I love to give a touch of my style to the bicycles I ride. inevitably they have become an inseparable part of my life As a professional cyclist for twenty years now, on my last visit to Wilier Triestina, in March, I saw an image that struck me as I was walking around the company. I asked if it was possible to move it to the front of my Filante SLR, leaving the undercarriage black. After a couple of months I found myself with a frame that was nothing short of… spectacular, perfectly in line with my expectations. A great team effort, the one carried out by Wilier, which gives me extra motivation for my Tour de France.. The Tour during which I will go chasing a dream."

Winning frame

From a purely chromatic point of view, the green on the frame recalls the jersey dedicated to the points classification of the Tour de France, symbol of the best sprinter. The intense yellow represents the prestige of the Yellow Jersey, a symbol of leadership at the Tour de France, paying homage to Cavendish's victories at the Grande Boucle. Blue, red, and black complete the livery, recalling the colors of the rainbow and the road cycling World Championship title won by the British rider in 2011 on the Copenhagen circuit.

This special Wilier Filante SLR will be available for purchase until December 31st.
