After having undertaken several trips to Italy, last June Davide Russotto decided to test himself against the uncontaminated and wild nature of theIceland through a solo journey renamed “The Real Iceland”In doing so, he was able to count on the important support of All4cycling, An entirely Italian e-commerce company based in Varese, which provided him with its customer service and, most importantly, the necessary travel materials.

Schedule change

The initial travel plan underwent some changes and Davide himself told us the reason.

«The itinerary I initially planned was slightly different. From the south I would have had to go up north towards Akureyri, the “capital” of the northern lands, through the highlands desert. The F26 and F35 routes were identified, two roads with very little traffic. Shortly before leaving, however, I discovered that Due to a snowstorm, two sections of the route were closed. So I had to change the route I'd originally planned. Thanks to this unexpected event, however, I was able to complete a loop entirely by bike via new roads (originally, I'd planned to return from Akureyri by bus, ed.)

Eventually The kilometers covered in eight days were 791 for a total difference in altitude of 7.400 meters and the landscapes encountered, according to Davide himself, were breathtaking.

Before leaving for his Icelandic adventure Davide Russotto stopped by the All4cycling headquarters in Gazzada Schianno for a final check of the bike he would later use on his trip (an Orbea Terra H40, ed.). It's the same "Daveonthebike” to tell us how it went.

Before leaving, I wanted to give my bike a complete overhaul. I replaced the chain, brake pads, and fitted tires. Pirelli Cinturato Gravel, perfect for the roads I would have to face."

He was also provided with two Vaude branded travel bags, a pair of shoes Ventana MTB Tour and above all a All4cycling Originals gravel shorts, an absolute novelty that Davide was able to test firsthand. During the eight-day trip, Russotto had no problems with his bike. The credit certainly goes to Luca Piovesan, mechanic at All4cycling, whom Davide himself wanted to personally thank.

Luca did an exceptional job. In addition to taking care of my bike before departure, he made sure I was fully available and available during the trip for any emergency calls, which fortunately there were none.
