CASTANO PRIMO – First a few photos on the company's social media, then more photos included in a company newsletter. The protagonist in both cases was the former professional Giovanni Visconti posing with the new pieces from Marcello Bergamo's summer collection. We were so curious, that to learn more, we visited the headquarters of the Lombardy-based company founded in 1977 by former professional Marcello Bergamo and his wife Fiorenza on a warm late April afternoon. We are in Castano Primo, in the province of Milan, a few kilometers from Malpensa Airport.Welcoming us is Sabrina Bergamo, who, together with her sister Alessandra, now leads the family business.
Sabrina, how did your collaboration with Visconti come about?
First of all, I would like to thank Giovanni, who kindly offered to be our model for our summer collection, especially the Experience line. We had the opportunity to meet him two years ago in Misano during the Italian Bike Festival, where we were present as exhibitors. He had made a really great impression on us on a personal level. Fate then decided that the person in charge of the photo shoot for our 2025 summer collection knew Giovanni well, having competed with him in the youth categories. That's where it all began.
Where was the shooting done?
At the beginning of April we were among lamporecchio e San Baronto, the areas where Giovanni lives and where he built his career professional cyclistWe basically made it at his house.
Was this the first time you used a former professional as a model?
In the past we have dressed several professional teams and therefore we have worked with athletes who are still active. This was the first time, however, that a former professional, and one known to the general public, He collaborated with us. As we wrote on our social media, we can only thank Giovanni for serving as our model.
What clothes did she wear for the shoot?
We got to have him wear all the items from our summer collections, especially the Experience collectionIt consists of a jersey, bib shorts, and gloves, and is available in four colorways for men and three for women. Each piece combines style, technology, and safety. To emphasize this last aspect, we've included reflective inserts on both the jersey and shorts to increase rider visibility.
What technical choices did you make for the jersey and bibshorts?
The shirt is light, elasticated and quick-drying, with mesh inserts in the most strategic areasIt has a slim fit, yet is still very comfortable. We used highly breathable fabrics to make it, ideal for hot days.
What about the bibshort?
The bibshort is also breathable and designed for long distances, with an ergonomic, high-density Elastic Interface chamois. It's made with "Premium Skin" fabric. Seams are kept to a minimum to avoid discomfort while in the saddle. It also features ultralight braces and thigh gussets designed for maximum support without constriction.
