In favor of Objective 3

For this year's edition of the Beat Yesterday Awards, Garmin has chosen to create a “choral event” in favor of Objective 3. We are talking about a sports association born from an idea by Alex Zanardi and from his desire to share and make others experience the same emotions as him, to offer an opportunity and support those who would like to get closer to sport but don't have the opportunity. Objective 3 aims to teach and spread sports practice among disabled people, still hampered by high costs and the difficulty of understanding how to get started. The disciplines covered by the association include paracycling, paratriathlon, wheelchair tennis, paraarchery, paraathletics, and para-alpine skiing.

An indoor relay

To help Obiettivo3, Garmin transformed the 2023 edition of the Beat Yesterday Awards into a real indoor relay race where technology and passion merged in a perfect combination. On Tacx NEO Bike, all-in-one smart bikes for indoor training that guarantee a realistic pedaling experience, and on the brand's Smart Trainers, well-known faces from the world of sport, and beyond, took turns to clock up the miles in support of Obiettivo3, with a final donation of 10.000 euros.

The goal was to symbolically bridge the distance of over 300 kilometers separating the Garmin headquarters in Milan from the Obiettivo3 headquarters in Padua.

The more than three hundred kilometers were covered by Norma Gimondi, Fabrizia D'Ottavio, Cristian Cucco, Davide Camicioli, Stefano Baldini, Davide Cassani, Antonio Bigi, Nicolò Famiglietti, Giulio Molinari, Roberto Grimoldi, Alessandro Morolla, Gianpaolo Favero, Francesco de Maio, Andrea Berton, and Gabriele Maifredi. Crossing the finish line was an exceptional quintet consisting of Filippo Ganna, Vincenzo Nibali, Alessandro Ballan, Elia Viviani, and Marco Aurelio Fontana.

Each cyclist and guest has put their signature on a Smart Trainer Tacx NEO 2T, which has become a real collector's item that will be up for grabs in a Strava contest that Garmin will launch in the next few days.

The four talks

While the guests took turns in the indoor relay, the public present at the Sheraton Milan San Siro was able to attend four talks that explored the very values that the Beat Yesterday Awards has been promoting for eight years. Here too, the rich audience made the difference, thanks to truly engaging stories. The values and consequently the themes discussed included altruism in sport and in life, vocation, passion combined with genius, and sharing.

The words of Stefano Viganò, CEO of Garmin Italia (in the opening photo he is portrayed with Barbara Manni, Marketing & Communication of Obiettivo3) best sum up the splendid day of Garmin Beat Yesterday 23 For Charity.

«It was a great honor for Garmin – he declared – to gather all these excellent names around such an important causeSupporting Obiettivo3 with our technology and together with the entire Garmin family was a unique and unrepeatable emotion, that only sport and passion can generate. An energy that could be felt reverberating strong and crystalline from the stage to the relay and up to the audience., who this year for the first time was able to attend the event which for us is the perfect conclusion to an important year."
