A permanent path
“Eolo Cdf Climb” is a permanent route that connects the Franco Ossola stadium in Varese and the Belvedere del Campo dei Fiori, the mountain overlooking the city. Rinaldo Ballerio, president of the board of directors of Elmec Informatica, wanted it personally., which took its example from nearby France where all the climbs that have made the history of the Tour de France They present signs dedicated to cyclists.
Now also the one at the Belvedere del Campo dei Fiori has its own permanent signage starting from two totems complete with map which respectively indicate the start and finish lines of the climb. Furthermore, signs have been placed every thousand metres indicating the distance still to be covered., the altitude and the slope. It has also been planned on the right side of the roadway a continuous blue line which is very useful for guiding those who are not from the area and tackles the hill for the first time. It's also a warning sign for motorists.


Whitewashed baptism

Before departure Ivan Basso wanted to describe the climb to the Belvedere del Campo dei Fiori, having climbed it several times in his career as an athlete.

The climb is approximately 10,5 kilometers long with an average gradient of 6,6 percent and an altitude difference of 700 meters.
