For the second consecutive year it will be Veloplus to create the uniform of the Team CorratecWe recall that the Tuscan-based team at the end of its first season in the continental category has taken a further step forward in its growth process by obtaining the 2023 professional license.
Veloplus's partnership with Team Corratec represents a truly prestigious one. To learn more about the new kit, we decided to meet with Matteo Spreafico, a key figure in the family business. Matteo personally oversaw the design of the new uniform and is therefore the perfect "guide" to help us discover the new features for the 2023 season..
What goals did you set for yourselves this year in creating the new uniform?
First of all, we wanted to create a kit that would set trends, but above all, one that best summarized the Veloplus “philosophy”: innovative materials to guarantee maximum performance and an extremely clean design. As a company we always do a lot of research, trying to anticipate what the future trends will be in terms of colors and materials.In doing all this, we follow a very specific stylistic path. When we began designing the Team Corratec jersey, we asked ourselves why cycling clothing couldn't also be elegant, like it is in other sports. We started with this question. Our goal was to bring a bit of fashion to the world of cycling, and I think we succeeded.
Let's start with the jersey. Last year, it immediately caught the eye with its truly unique color. What can we say about it?
For 2023 the color remains unchanged. This year too the shirt will be burgundy in colour, often also called Burgundy.As the name suggests, it's inspired by the intense red typical of wine. It's a color we like, it stands out in a group, and we're sure it will soon be a trending color... in fact, it already is.
From a technical point of view, what's new?
This is an extremely high-performance garment with an ultra-snug fit. The jersey is extremely lightweight, weighing just 110 grams. The front is made of a soft, skin-friendly fabric. The closure is guaranteed by a zip hidden by a gusset which ensures graphic continuityThe back is made of micro-perforated fabric that allows air to circulate and improves breathability. The set-in sleeve is made of raw-cut striped fabric to be more aerodynamic, tight-fitting and naturally comfortable.The low neck is perfectly anatomical and follows the athlete's ergonomic position on the bike, avoiding the creation of annoying creases.
In terms of graphics, the biggest changes seem to concern the shorts.
Exactly. Last season it was black. This year it's aqua green, and it's very similar to Tiffany. This is a color that found its greatest popularity in the 1950s, especially in the fashion industry.It's a fresh color that recalls nature with its unique, refined shades. The bottom of the shorts also features a band composed of several shaded colors that match the same band on the jersey. The final result of the complete kit is decidedly harmonious.
Moving on to the relationship with the team, how did you proceed in terms of defining the sizes?
We had an initial introductory meeting with the team, which helped us get a feel for the new arrivals, especially the new arrivals. When the first batch of material was delivered we took the opportunity to make those small adjustments, where necessary, so that each team athlete can have their own custom-made uniform. This meeting also helped us determine the number of kits to produce for each size. We're currently focusing on a new, extremely lightweight and breathable uniform. which will be presented before the summer and which we will certainly have the opportunity to talk about.
