The season that will be archived in a few days will be remembered by Shimano as nothing short of a fabulous one. A year of great satisfaction, of victories achieved at the most prestigious goals by a "pool" of athletes who are nothing short of exceptionalA long season, which as always kept Shimano busy both from a technical point of view, through the supply of its best components to the teams – above all the new Dura Ace 12-speed – both at the service level with the famous neutral assistance organised in many WorldTour races.
A rain of victories
The 2022 road racing season Shimano ends with victory in the three Grand Tours: the Giro d'Italia with the Australian Hindley, the Tour de France won by jonas vingegaard, and La Vuelta dominated by Remco Evenepoel, the latter able, just two weeks after the triumph in Madrid, to wear his first rainbow jersey in Australian World Cup from Wollongong…
But this year Shimano has also accompanied and contributed to the successes of Wout van aert three stages at the Tour and the green jersey of leader of the points classification – of his teammate and French revelation Christophe Laporte, of the Eritrean from Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Biniam Girmay, who during his first WorldTour season won the Ghent-Wevelgem, as well as an exciting sprint stage at the Giro d'Italia.
And then how can we forget the successes of other great riders who raced with Shimano equipment this year… Among these, Primois Roglic (Paris-Nice and Dauphiné), Mathieu Van der Poel (Tour of Flanders), Dylan van Baarle (Paris-Roubaix) and Richard Carapaz (three stages at La Vuelta and best climber's jersey).
Even in the women's field, there has been no shortage of great successes and revelations from athletes who have had the opportunity to showcase the new top-of-the-line groupset offered by the Japanese brand. A few examples? Dutch sprinter and European champion Lorena Wiebes, who won 23 times during the season. Space also for the eternal Marianne Vos and "our" Martha Cavalli, with his successes at the Amstel Gold Race, the Flèche Wallonne and the Dénivelé Challenges.
Always… on the run
As anticipated, this year too Shimano has not failed to provide its valuable support with regards to neutral assistance service in many World Tour races, but not only on those stages. The Shimano Neutral Service team responded with their distinctive blue cars and motorbikes., in numerous cycling events. Shimano mechanics have thus sprung into action, thanks to their own well-equipped mobile workshops, to change wheels, replace bicycles and solve technical problems of a very different nature: a true “mission” that lasts all year round, whether it's the cobblestones of Paris-Roubaix, the gravel of the Strade Bianche, junior and para-cycling events, or the mountains of the Giro d'Italia or the Tour de France. Six Shimano “Neutral Service” teams operate in Europe, covering a total of 560 race days per year.!
