Tenth anniversary
The 2023 edition of the Giro represents something truly special for the Bergamo-based company (Sitip is based in Cene, Val Seriana, ed.). The collaboration with the Corsa Rosa began exactly ten years ago, in 2014. Over this period, the pink jersey has changed not only in terms of design, but also in the fabrics used, making it a high-performance technical garment.
An important stage in the collaboration between Sitip and the Giro d'Italia took place in 2020. In that year Sitip has created a production aimed at reducing the impact of the manufacturing process on the environmentThe fabrics used to make the pink jersey in the last three editions are made from post-consumer recycled yarns. Sitip continues on this path in 2023, championing the combination of performance and sustainability.
The same fabrics they were naturally used to make the jerseys intended for the leaders of the other individual classifications: cyclamen for the points classification, blue for the mountain grand prix and white for the best young rider.
Let's discover the shirts
To create the jerseys of the individual ranking leaders, three fabrics from the NATIVE Sustainable Textiles line were used, which applies to fabrics produced with recycled yarns and chemicals with low environmental impact and which allow for a lower consumption of natural resources, certified Bluesign, OEKO TEX and GRS.
The selected fabrics are Native Pirata, Native-Game Light and Native-Leader: made from materials derived from plastic waste found in the environment, primarily bottles. The fabrics, made with recycled polyester and elastane, are designed for activewear, especially cycling jerseys.
Bielastic and ready-to-print base for any type of customization, They are comfortable to the touch and in contact with the skin thanks to the MICROSENSE Soft Performance technologyThe Native-Leader has also been made with DRY Enduring Freshness technology which allows the fabric to dry very quickly by promoting the expansion and dispersion of moisture towards the outside, leaving the body with a pleasantly fresh sensation.
Body mapping
The positioning of the fabrics in the shirt follows the principle of body mapping, that is, applying them to the body part based on its functionality. The Native Pirata fabric has been placed in the neck area, sleeves and front where greater protection is requiredNative-Game Light, thanks to its lightness, has been inserted in the back to allow greater breathability. Finally, Native-Leader fabric was chosen for the side area of the jersey.
