The start will be confirmed in the fascinating Autodromo “Enzo and Dino Ferrari” in Imola. The proceeds will be donated at Dynamo Camp, the first Recreational Therapy camp established in Italy for children suffering from serious or chronic illnesses. While Suzuki will donate in favor of the Emilia-Romagna Region the same amount collected.
Champion's Path
Those who take part in the Suzuki Bike Day 2023 will have the opportunity to test themselves in complete safety on a unique route and live an out-of-the-ordinary experience. the route will include the 28,5 kilometre ring of the path on which it took place the 2020 road cycling championship, with the addition of a further stretch of about twenty kilometers. Participants will be able to pedal on the asphalt of the Imola circuit (a privilege normally reserved for pilots and professional cyclists) and on the route used during the 2020 World Championship, with the climbs of Gallisterna and Mazzolano. All this before tackling another new and spectacular section, entering and previewing some passages of the Stage 2 of the 2024 Tour de France, Cesenatico-BolognaRefreshment points will be set up along the route, as well as a start and finish village inside the racetrack.
«We had to make some changes – says Cassani – because of what happened. It is not possible to climb Monticino, but we still managed to create a route that connects the two World Championships of 1968 and 2020 and some sections of the Tour de France stage. It will be a ride that will unite three major events. It starts from the Imola racetrack and is always safe to ride, which is another point worth highlighting. The French start is scheduled between 8,30 and 10 am from the circuit, with the finish scheduled for 12,30 pm".
Emilia Romagna and Dynamo Camp
Davide Cassani grew up on these streets and was personally affected by the flood in his home in Faenza. "We will pedal," he explains, "trying to bring a breath of fresh air to an area that has been brought to its knees from this climatic event. But beyond that, we help this affected region with practical aid. I must thank Suzuki who in the end, in fact, confirmed the event and also thought of doing something more".
In addition to the amount that will be donated entirely to the Dynamo Camp, the Hamamatsu car manufacturer will donate in favor of Emilia-Romagna the same amount that will be collected.
It will be an event open to all, families and to anyone who wants to lend a hand and at the same time enjoy a morning of sport. «In the end it's not a race – Cassani specifies – but it's a way to spend a morning together. Pedaling without any stress, just for the pleasure of taking a bike ride on traffic-free streets. Last year was a really beautiful event, so we hope to relive a day like that this year. Always with a hint of emotion for what happened."
Guests of honor
Members will be able to participate with any type of bicycle (mountain bike, electric bike, pedal-assist bike, with trailer for children or pets, etc.) and pedal at your own pace, in the company of many important figures in Italian sports. Among the guests, of course, are cyclists and former cyclists such as Davide Cassani, Alexander Petacchi, Sonny Colbrelli, Silvia Zanardi, Filippo Baroncini, Giada Borgato, Moreno Argentin.
But also athletes from other sports such as Elise Giordano, captain of the women's national rugby team, Silvia Fent captain of the U20 women's national rugby team, Francesca Lollobrigida, Davide Ghiotto, Peter Sighel multiple medalists and FISG Olympic champions. For Dynamo Camp
La registration fee is 5 euros, entirely donated to charity in favor of Dynamo Camp. However, anyone can freely increase the amount, depending on their generosity. Or 20 euros for Premium membership, which includes, in addition to the registration fee donated to Dynamo Camp, the exclusive technical jersey by Alè Cycling, designed by the Suzuki Style Centre.
Anyone who registers by June 28th will receive a personalized faceplate. All fees include: Race pack, headlamp, insurance coverage, refreshment points, medical and mechanical assistance.
