One of the cylinders that is powering the engine of the BFT Burzoni è Alessia BearsThe performance of this junior, who hails from Soliera in the Modena plain and who wants to continue to grow, has been enriched from July onwards between road and track.

So far, her “first year” season in the category (one of the many athletes of the Piacenza team) speaks for itself. Orsi achieved two of his three road victories in the space of four days in early September. He has updated his wardrobe of "jerseys" with the Emilia-Romagna regional titles in both the time trial and road races. And to top it all off, there was also space for the silver medal won on August 21st at the junior world track championships in team pursuit.

We took the opportunity to get to know Alessia better, who studies tourism at the Meucci Technical Institute in Carpi. Her words express determination, gratitude, and an awareness of her own strengths and weaknesses. Not secondary characteristics for a 17 year old girl, who is also nice when talking about her relationship with her twin sister Martina, her teammate.

Let's take stock of your 2025?

The year didn't start very well. I really felt the change in category from students to juniors. It took me a while to get used to it and settle in.In the first part, I worked hard for my teammates, but I didn't find results that gave me confidence, except for the regional time trial, where I finished fourth overall. I was disappointed not to have earned a call-up to the European track championships.

When was the turning point?

It was gradual. In June at the Italian championship I was in the breakaway for about fifty kilometers, in a team game that then led to the victory of Matilde (her partner Rossignoli, ed.). In addition to the satisfaction for his tricolor, I was happy with my performance because I had been a protagonist. There I understood that I was growing in condition and the real change of direction came a few weeks later close to home.

Please explain.

At the beginning of July, I won the San Felice sul Panaro race in front of my parents, relatives, and friends. It was a race I felt strongly about because I knew the roads very well. It was a victory that came at the right time, which was absolutely necessary. I needed it to let my thoughts flow.. It also counted as a regional championship, and it was a source of great pride for me. From then on, everything was a little easier, and other important results arrived.

Were you expecting such a good start to September?

At the Giro di Lunigiana Donne I wanted to do well. After the first stage won by Agata (Campana, ed.), I got it into my head that I wanted to win the second stage and that's how it went. (Opening photo by Ptzphotolab). Then, a few days later, in the province of Bergamo, in the final 30 kilometers, I received the green light from the team and joined the decisive breakaway. There were about a dozen of us, and in the finale, I exploited my speed skills.

Let's take the lead and talk about your characteristics. What kind of rider are you?

I can definitely sprint in small groups. I define myself as a fast-rolling cyclist, but I do well on climbs, especially if they are long, as can be the case in our races. For example, I had a great time in the Basque Country Bizkaikoloreak (short Nations Cup stage race, ed.) I understood my characteristics better and gained a lot of international experience.

Then came the call to the national team for the track world championships.

Exactly, I was very happy because I didn't expect it to be that great. I've always been on the track, even winning Italian championships in the lower categories. In Apeldoorn I ran both the kilometer and the quartet race, two very different disciplines. To tell the truth I only ran in the final with the quartet, where we were all from BFT BurzoniIt was a huge responsibility, especially because it was a very important race, and I gave it my all. I thank the coaches for their faith in me.

What has this season taught you so far?

I get along well with everyone on the team. I've learned to run as a team much more than in previous years. I carved out my space and I think I had the trust of my sports directors because they recognized the work done for my teammates. It was a great satisfaction for me, and I thank them. On that note, I'd just like to say a few words about them.

You're welcome.

We have two sporting directors who are perfect from a tactical and human point of view. Vittorio (Tired, ed.) he knows cycling very well and he always tells us how to move during the race, as well as explaining everything to us afterwards. And he is supported by Krizia (Corradetti, ed) which was fundamental for meShe's closer to us in age and understands our problems, not just cycling ones but those of a different nature. However, we have a professional "manager-athlete" relationship with her, and when she gets angry, it's best to listen to her.

What is the relationship between Alessia Orsi and her twin sister Martina?

Obviously love and hate like a normal pair of twins (she says smiling, ed.). We've been running together since we were G2 And we always train together. I struggle to go out when she can't, and vice versa. Martina is a key player for me, but we have very different personalities. And in fact we often argue about many things, even those related to cycling.

Can you give us some examples?

I always try to stimulate her. Martina doesn't believe in her abilities enough and instead she shouldShe doesn't listen to my advice when I tell her she can get results. So we end up arguing, and in the end she agrees with me (smiles again, ed.).

What does Martina teach you instead?

She's an athlete who always gives her all in a race. I often see her finish a race feeling really tired and exhausted. I think this is a great quality for a rider. From Martina I have to learn to be less afraid of not getting results and to really give it my all.Sometimes I reach the finish line not feeling as tired as I should, perhaps because I wanted to conserve energy, without using it fully.

Short and long term goals?

I should do the Italians on the track in Noto, although I don't know in which disciplines. I'd like to do the omnium, my favorite, and maybe the madison with Martina, in addition to the individual and team pursuits. Then On October 18th we will have the Italian team time trial championship and we aim to win itFor 2026, I'd like to gain even more experience. I've set some goals. I would like to do well in Cittiglio, in the Italian road race, in Lunigiana and try to win a stage in the Basque CountryI know they are many and difficult to achieve, but I am motivated to reach them.
