Valentina Crows he won the Italian cyclo-cross championship. The girl of the Trinx Factory Team compared to many rivals she's a real cross-country racer. Or rather an off-roader, since she also does mountain biking. the other day, on the Castel Fusano track in Ostia, a handful of tighter bends in succession were enough to create a gap.

And they were enough for her, despite a much more dry-weather tire choice. Fast tires for her. Tyres with which he had to regain the feeling directly in the race, given that he had tested on dry surfaces and found herself with a path that had just been wet by a shower of rain.

Superb technique

«But it wasn't easy – says Corvi – It was a tough race and especially at the beginning I tried to stay there as long as possible with the best (The Venturelli he was shooting really hard, ed.) and then I tried to pull away in the final stages of the race. I had studied the parts where I could gain something and so in the last two laps I tried to pull away. I increased the pace and managed to gain those meters that I maintained until the finish.

«In some places there was quite a lot of mud, The surface was slippery. And at high speeds, it wasn't so easy. But in the long run, all of this helped me."

More road than Belgium

A cross-country racer like this could play the Northern card. She's young, she has excellent potential and above all, as we said, she's a true cross-country racer. But Valentina seems to be deviating. Also because she has other priorities.

«I don't know if any team from the North has ever approached me – Valentina explains clearly – but I honestly never thought about itI give a lot of importance to the summer season, to mountain biking, and doing a cross-country season in Belgium the way they interpret it is not a good idea. They start early, finish later and it's very demanding. I started with cross-country because it was functional for mountain biking."

And what about the road? Is this young talent of our cycling thinking about it?

“Eh,” Valentina smiles, “that’s a difficult question. I'd like to try some racing this year, especially since I've never tried it. Racing on the road is something that attracts me, but let's see... I want to indulge this whim.

«I know I can do well but there is also the mountain bike season, It's something I care a lot about, so we'll see if and how to make everything fit together. In the meantime, we have to finish the cross-country season, which includes at least three important events (the World Cup races and the World Championship, ed.). Then I'll think about the summer season."

Biker inside

«I believe – continues the Valtellinese – that the path can make you even more complete. Other skills are developed that If you add them to everything else, they make you stronger. I've always been mountain biking and I really enjoy racing."

If Valentina has to do this test, it's important that she do it this season, while she's still a junior. Especially for women, moving up to under 23 means racing with the pros and the leap would be much harder.

«Yes, yes… if I have to do this experience, it's better this year. Also Luca Bramati tells me to give it a try. A try costs nothing, but abandoning the off-road vehicle… never!
