Last year, speaking with Stefano Viezzi at the start of the World Cup in Benidorm, we understood that his dream team was the Alpecin-Deceuninck to do like his idol Van der Poel. So the Friulian won the junior world cross country championship and he signed for the I have to team up of the Belgian team with whom he ran his last cross-country races in 2025 and with whom he will start his first under-23 road season. Similarly, we asked ourselves what will be the future of Mattia Agostinacchio after the same victory in cross.

The Aosta Valley native told us that the first people he heard from after his world championship success were his father, who was present in Lievin, his mother and brother Filippo who remained at home, and his agent. He was talking about Omar Piscina, Giuseppe Acquadro's collaboratorAnd we exchanged a few words with the latter to understand what lies in Agostinacchio's near future.

What interest do WorldTour teams have in a rider who wins the Junior Cross World Championships?

It's quite high, especially if they see that it goes strong in the fastest cross-country races, those that are most similar to the roadThe teams are very interested in young people who do multi-discipline.

Has anything changed in Agostinacchio's assessment before and after the World Cup?

It's normal that attention has increased, however Mattia was already in the crosshairs beforeThere were three teams, there were even more but I decided to work with these three, who were interested in him.

Are teams interested in maintaining the multi-discipline or will they just move it to the road at the first opportunity?

For now, yes, they will keep the cross. Then, after 3-5 years, you see what the rider is like and how he develops.I think Mattia is a rider suited to the classics. We need to figure out which type: the Ardennes, the cobblestones, or both.

Agostinacchio will race as a junior for Trevigliese: should we expect him to change teams during the season?

Ninth, he has to do two years of junior, but I don't exclude that maybe during the summer it could be done a training camp with the team he decides to sign for. This way, they will start to know him better.

Mattina Agostinacchio triumphed in the junior cross-country world championships even though she was not yet 8 years old.

The perspective in your opinion is a I have to team up or professionalism straight away?

I think it's safe to say that He will immediately go to the WorldTour, with a long contract to allow him to have a very light racing schedule for the first two years and then gradually grow.

Could his brother Filippo also be included in the deal?

Here, maybe the brother he could go to the youth team of the team where Mattia signs to see how he grows too.

How did you come into contact with him?

I saw him last year in two or three road races, the few he had done on the road. I watched him on videos, I saw him live and at that point We talked with Omar Piscina, who works for me as a scout in Italy and also a bit abroad in Northern Europe, about trying to get closer to him.Omar had his first contact with his parents last year, before he exploded. Because when they're minors, you have to go through their parents.

Which two or three teams are in contention to sign him?

I'm not saying it yet, but If we talk again in a month, I'll tell you everythingIt won't be a real signature, but a commitment to his parents and then, as soon as he comes of age, he will be the one to sign.

You mentioned a long contract: are we talking about three, four, or five years?

Currently with the youngest we think about three or four years, maybe three is the best numberThen we'll have to see how he'll fit in, how he'll settle into the category, because he could go great right away or need a buffer period.

Uran was one of Acquadro's riders. He recently retired but remains very popular in Colombia.

What will your relationship with Mattia be like during this year with Trevigliese?

La Trevigliese It's one of the best teams in Italy. They work very well but, as I was saying, I think Mattia will do a training camp for the WorldTour team he'll be riding for. And they might... they will start to work alongside the trainer so that they can get to know each other and set up the work together.

Let's change the subject: how will you cope without Uran? And is his desire to play Serie A football genuine?

After his retirement, I took other riders, let's see if the new Rigo will be among them (laughs, ed.). He was strong and crazy, obviously in a good way. As for football, he said that It would be enough for him to play five minutes in Serie AI don't think he envisions a career as a footballer. He's whimsical, yes, but with his feet firmly on the ground.
