A name that has marked pages of cycling history, bringing dozens of cyclists to the professional stage. With 110 years of history theUC Trevigiani Energiapura Marchiol return to Treviso with a recently born project and the aim of becoming an example among the U23s and the elite, winning and training new champions.

To tell the truth, the Venetian team had already taken its first steps, but as the team manager Franco Lampugnani: «2022 was the year of sowing seeds, because the club returned to its own competitive activities. The name UC Trevigiani had been given to external teams to manage, but without having a real soul and just like the one we want to give him today."

Accompanying this journey, in addition to new names and a renewed staff, is the name of Mirco Lorenzetto, former pro and current sports director of the new formation: «This year we want to win. We need to give confidence to the people of Treviso, to the fans and to the companyWe have focused on a high-quality team."

Again at home

The name UC Trevigiani has never left the rankings in recent years. The indissoluble bond that ties youth cycling to the city of Treviso, however, required more importance and presenceThus was born the idea of bringing the team back within the walls of the Venetian city and starting from scratch.

"Until 2021," explains Franco Lampugnani, "the registered trademark UCTrevigiani was, as mentioned, managed by third parties. Furthermore, starting this year, the company name has changed, it is no longer an ASD, but has become a fully-fledged sports LLC. Because we want to do things with a different touch. It all started with the will shared by me, the Project Manager Luciano Marton and the President Ettore Renato BarziWe realized that by borrowing the name, it had become something beyond our control, with all the connections and implications. In 2023 We want Trevigiani to return to its former glory. Bringing it back to the forefront, also through results. So we've built a full staff and a significant roster of athletes.

«Some partners and sponsors have remained linked to Trevigiani, such as Pure Energy e Marchiol who supported the project, ensuring that everything started from our home in Treviso. I have reported some sponsors inside the package like the technical ones."

Reinforced organic

The goal is always the same and is shared by everyone: winTo do this, after a first year of growth, the coaching staff decided to invest in a more solid and successful team.

"We've built a team," Lampugnani says, "with six elite players. Clearly, we're focusing on the two signings, Zurlo and Rocchetta who come from Zalf and we will see what they will be able to do. From the first retreats we immediately saw that they are very motivated and have fully embraced our project. Without forgetting that it remained Baseggio, the athlete who made a bit of a cover for us in 2022. Then there are De Totto, Di Bernardo and Pozza. De Totto is a boy who comes from football, He's only been cycling for three seasons. We've seen with his trainers that he has some interesting potential.

"We've raised the level of our under-23s a bit," the team manager continued. "We're coming off a season where the young players disappointed us, so we've decided to strengthen ourselves further. Palomba of the General Store, By Bernardo, the Danish Mortensen and we trust in the growth of CettoWe also feel strong from the staff's point of view. With Mirco Lorenzetto there will be Francesco Benedet and Leonardo Sari as sports director. Mirco is a highly experienced coach. As coaches, we've given the players the freedom to be supported by independent figures. Zurlo, Rocchetta and Baseggio will be followed by Paul Slongo, a friend who has always supported us over the years and so we decided to continue the collaboration."

Safe harbor

Trevigiani also means growth and has always represented an ambition for those who wanted to reach a safe haven with the means to then board the battleships of professionalism.

«Immanuel D'Aniello – says Lampugnani – comes from Salerno, cycling from Palazzago. We included him in the ranking at the end of the transfer campaign, but let's say we saw a strong boy capable of giving us some good results. satisfactions on the rise.

«Then there is Ignazio Cireddu who comes from Sardinia, the result of the collaboration we have with the Team Crazy WheelsA friendly collaboration because the President of the company Luca Massa He is a personal friend who lives here in Treviso for work reasons. He is working to create a reality in his region. juniors and under 23s with the inclusion of two registered youngsters to run here in Treviso. In Sardinia, there are no under-23 races, and therefore they would have been forced to run with the amateurs, making their development path more difficult. Unlike the Sicily boasts an important calendar, from where it comes instead The Pirré Land which already gave us some positive signs last year. We can boast athletes from the islands and beyond, and we'll give them the opportunity to showcase themselves."

Lorenzetto in the flagship

Having a former professional sports director always represents an added value for both the players and the management. So we cI asked Mirco Lorenzetto what prompted him to embrace this project. and what vision he had of this great return.

"Basically Trevigiani has never closed – explains the Venetian, who played his first year with Trevigiani as an U23 in 2000 – but this is the first year he's returned to a permanent base here. It's a source of pride and belonging. It was time to lead a team. I found the connection with this team and I decided to carry on with an idea2022 was a year in which I remained a bit more on the sidelines. I had no ambitions for results.

«This year the team represents me more starting from purchasesThe 2022 team was immature and put together without much time to choose. This season we're aiming to win. Between the under and elite teams, this year we can say that be ready to have our say, having behind us a project in which we strongly believe».

The three points

Among the 18 athletes that make up the UC Trevigiani Energiapura Marchiol 2023 team there are three names above all who stand out for what they have already shown, results in hand.

«Undoubtedly – says Lorenzetto – our strikers are Zurlo, Rocchetta and Baseggio, there's no denying it. Zurlo from the point of view of the engine and motivations I can't understand how he can still be an amateurFrom my sporting experience, someone like him could be useful to any professional team. He has a solid mentality and is confident in what he does.

«The paradox is that he he almost doesn't believe in passing anymoreIt's bad because a boy with this potential should never lose hope. It's not his fault, but the environment'sI told him that when I was running, my roommate was a rider who made it to the elite senior year almost by accident. His name is Alessandro ballan and he is the last Italian to have won a world championship among the pros.
