The victory at the recent Coppa Inverno was a great success for Giosuè Epis a particular, unique flavour. It was his way of saying goodbye to the Carnovali Rime Sias, the team that had him in its ranks for two years, looked after him, helped him grow. A new adventure will begin in 2023, in the ranks of the Zalf Euromobil. An important change even if it may not seem like one given that we are talking about two continental realities, but everything in Epis' career has an impact because he knows that his every move, every victory or defeat is looked at with a magnifying glass.

We had already had the opportunity to talk about it at the beginning of the season his life in the caravan considering that his sister is in the management of the Cycling Federation, but More or less veiled envy is now a bygone topic that Giosué rightly no longer wants to think aboutHis career is developing based on the kilometers he's run and the victories. Yes, the victories...

«If they had told me at the beginning of the season – says the young representative of Carnovali Rime – that I would have collected 5 successes and all of them of a certain specific weight I would have put signature upon signatureI'm especially happy to have finished well because in the last 50 days let's say I've straightened things out a bitAt the beginning of the season, my legs weren't working the way I wanted. Maybe I made a mistake in my preparation, and I'll have to think about it so it doesn't happen again."

How did the victory in the Winter Cup come about?

It wasn't an easy race. 5 of them broke away, and I chased after them just before the finish line, along with Andrea Colnaghi, but without managing to rejoin us. The group caught up with us first and then the escapees, so we played for the victory in the sprint, us from Carnovali and Colpack who were aiming for PerchIn the end I narrowly won.

The last victory with that shirt…

They were two wonderful years, important for my growth. Working with the company has brought me to a good level, now it's up to me to continue growing and improvingClosing with a victory gives me further motivation for next season, to resume training with the right spirit.

Why did you choose to change when you had decided to?

It's a decision that came quite recently, based on the proposals that I received. It is not a choice made to "punish" my previous company to which I owe so much, but I needed new stimuli. Zalf seemed like the ideal place to continue my growth path, given the'the activities it carries out and its entire history with many champions who have passed through its parts.

The news of your transfer was somewhat surprising, considering you're staying with a continental team. What's different?

Actually, not much: the shirt, the name, the atmosphere. But it's precisely this last point that convinced me. I needed to change especially in my head because I know that important moments for my future are approaching and, as I said, I needed new motivation, to really put myself to the test.

It's clear that the dream is to go pro. Have there been any contacts in this direction?

Something yes, nothing definite but Above all, I had the confirmation that I am being watched, that in 2023 I am playing practically everythingI'm closer to that fateful contract than I was at the beginning of the year, but I'm not there yet. I hope to continue on the same path until I reach that goal...

Among your victories, which one do you think has truly marked your year?

I have no doubts, success at the Giro del FriuliI knew I was doing well that day; victory was my goal from the start, and I achieved it, in front of a very respectable crowd. Winning an international race has a different meaning. Then came the success in Biassono and I started from there., convinced that in every race there is the possibility of winning and I want to be competitive from the first race next year.
