After a few weeks of doubts and questions, Alessandro Fancellu has finally found a new home: the Q36.5. The parenthesis of the has closed Eolo-Kometa, who accompanied him between under 23 and pro teams from 2019 to 2023Five years, during which the young Como native's talent hasn't blossomed as expected. Meanwhile, on the shores of Lake Como, the cold weather is still languishing, and the days are still pleasant.

«I started training again about ten days ago – says Fancellu – I alternate between cycling and the gymWhen I don't have specific work to do I go mountain biking, I like it and it also helps me get a little colder. I'm also taking advantage of this because for now a friend who owns a shop is lending me the racing bike.Eolo immediately wanted the money back. Aurum, while the Scott hasn't arrived yet from Q36.5, it will probably be given to me at the first retreat in December".

For Fancellu, the best placing was an eleventh place in the third stage of the Tour of Slovenia

How did the Q36.5 opportunity arise?

My attorney, Carera, He told me there was an opportunity to sign with them and I said to myself: «Let's do it right away!"We were talking to other teams, but there was nothing concrete. The proposal didn't arrive immediately from Q36.5; they wanted to do some investigations first. They checked the Training Peaks files and I had some tests done. to certify my health. I'd say everything went well, since I signed.

A long and important relationship has ended, the one with Eolo...

It was right to have a change of scenery, something hasn't worked in recent years. I couldn't say exactly whatWhen I didn't get sick in 2022 and had more consistency, I did well. Especially in the second half of the season, at the Tour de l'Avenir.

Think about what went wrong?

It's hard to say, it's all just speculation: maybe I didn't run enough, maybe I should have trained differently. I can't even figure out why everything didn't go as hoped., but now there's no point in asking too many questions anymore.

In the five years he spent at Eolo, three of which as a pro, Fancellu never found the best version of himself

Is it better to reset and start over?

I decided, also speaking with the team, that it would have been better to start from scratch: new stimuli, new teammates, new staffIn short, everything new, with the aim of focusing on 2024 (also because Fancellu signed for only one year, ed.).

Did you talk about lenses with the Q36.5?

Not yet specifics, I'm not sure what schedule we'll be doing and what I'll be doing. It will all depend on the invitations we receive. From the first call I understood that they believed in me, the results in these years have not been up to par, but they told me that I can do something good.

Il 2023 should and could it have been a different year?

Once 2022 ended well, I would have expected to see more consistency in my performances. This has certainly not been the season I expected.

You talked about it with Low?

He also told me that something hasn't worked in these years and that it would have been better to get a change of sceneryWe didn't do as well as expected at the end of this three-year period.

What were your goals?

I would have liked to get to 2023 with some results, but that wasn't the case. After signing the Q36.5 I also spoke with Fortunato e Albanian and they also told me that changing was the best choice. They both had a similar start to their careers to mine, with some difficulties., then the change of team allowed him to emerge.

What goal will you have in 2024?

I also talked about it with my trainer, He told me that you just need to train the right wayI want to be at the front in the tough races, right from the start of the season. Start well to earn a place on the team in the important racesNow, from December 11th to 22nd, we'll be in Altea for the first retreat of the year, and we'll be putting together a program. I can't wait.
