Among the technical curiosities of the Giro d'Italia, after having… pinched the new Dmt shoes used by Elia Viviani, a few days ago we noticed that Simon Yates is using mysterious, unmarked wheels on climbs, mounted with tubeless tires, which are supplied to the Australian team by Pirelli. We had our eye on them on the Zoncolan, but they returned in the Cortina stage and then in the Ala saw and yesterday too, as you can clearly see in the opening photo. What is this about, given that the team, as already written on bici.PRO, uses Shimano wheels for the road races and Vision for the time trials?

Vision, maybe…

At first glance, it might be a question of a medium profile carbon disc wheel model which, if it hadn't been for Covid, Vision It has already been launched on the market. 45" wheels, with 21 spokes in the front and 24 in the rear, will be revealed soon and are designed to also use tubeless tires. It remains to be seen whether the use of the mysterious wheels will remain limited to the Giro or the team is evaluating new materials for the future.
