The materials available to Pidcock
Just entered into the orbit of the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, Pidcock was supplied with the new version of the Scott Addict RC, in a special livery: not the same one supplied to the team. During the first training camps the official bikes arrived and Foil has also been added to the Addict: the first to be used for races with significant differences in altitude, the Foil for flat and hilly stages.
During the winter tests the British rider used the 54-41 plateau and 10-33 rear sprocket scale, a combination also used inALUla TourThe transmission is Sram Red, the power meter Quarq, pedals Shimano and saddle Prologo Scratch M5 PAS (maybe not official, but evident, both previously used on Pinarello). The Zipp 454 NSW wheels, with Vittoria Corsa Pro tubeless 28mm section. Also noteworthy is the seat post with the maximum available setback and the 165 crankset (previously used 170).
When did you fit Pidcock's bikes?
From the first of December onwards we started on Pidcock's bikes, immediately after his official arrivalAs you might imagine, we've been waiting for the frames from Scott. From the first training camp, we've been working tirelessly to prepare the official training and racing bikes.
Compared to the one he used at Team Ineos, have you made any changes?
The measurements remained identical, only some small adjustments related to the geometry of the bike, different between Scott and Pinarello, but the measurements are also those requested by the rider.
A saddle setback that seems out of time!
He pedals like this, anyway well centered on the bike and on the seat tube, but with a saddle that is very unloaded towards the rearHe could use a larger size bike, but instead he prefers a smaller size, moving the saddle further back and using a long stem.
What size are your bikes and how much do they weigh?
Size XXS for Addict and Foil, could also use an XS, but prefers the XXS. Addict is UCI compliant, 6,8 kilograms in the race-ready version, with the number and transponder applied. Its Foil is 7,09: both with the same setup with Zipp 454 NSW wheels.
What crank length does Pidcock use?
165 millimeters, one of the very first requests, perhaps the first one he made to us when we prepared all the components for his bikes.
Have you made any requests regarding bike fitting and assembly?
He did not make any particular requests, even if it is clear that he is attentive and curiousHe speaks little and knows what he wants, he always listens, but in the end he is the one who decidesYou can feel that he is convinced of his choices, and it is very professionalHe also asks for a lot of information about bikes and techniques in general.
Is there one of the two bikes that you consider primary?
For him it is the Addict the number one bike, his main choice. On several occasions, he has commented on the bike's responsiveness, ease of handling, and readiness, as lively and agile as he is.
