Deda, masters in the alloys
When it comes to Deda It is reasonable to expect quality components. The Crema company is always a leader in the metals category. The new disc brake rotors are aimed at the road and gravel world and are built by combining steel and aluminum.
The first refers to the first part, the upper one of the braking track (in the area in contact with the pads, the Deda disc has a thickness of 1,8 mm), 7075 aluminum is used for the support spider and for the hub engagement area (CenterLock). It is not available in a 6-hole version.






Floating solution
The two parts of the Deda disc are joined together thanks to a floating system 5 rivets with spring washers. This technique allows for high heat dissipation, prevents material deformation, and contributes to extraordinary efficiency even when temperatures rise exponentially. The upper design of the braking track is rounded. Here too, in addition to safety issues, the search for a suitable shape to guarantee the best performance, with a low weight on the scale, comes into play.
The Deda disc is the result of research with FEM analysis, acronym for Finite Element Method. It means that the shapes and the use of materials must match perfectly, so as to be high-performance and constantly guarantee thecomponent integrityThere are two diameters available: 160 and 140 millimeters.

I Our first tests date back to the end of 2023Over 7000 kilometers, on road and gravel, in winter and summer temperatures. The first disc samples didn't have a definitive livery, and some details needed to be refined, but it was important to understand the effectiveness, the quality of the materials, and the overall quality of the component, as well as its longevity.
The first results have given us some excellent results, especially when compared to the (all) aluminum discs. Greater modularity braking and the ability to withstand prolonged braking. Greater stability of the component which does not change shape and does not pinch the pads even after long descents. No issues with adaptability to the various systems. However, the aluminum spider changed color (without deforming) due to the high temperatures to which we subjected the discs. Hence the decision, which was ultimately made, to use the black spider.
Deda discs do not aim for extreme lightness (for those who love comparisons and numbers, a 160 Shimano Dura Ace disc weighs 103 grams), you can also see it from the value on the scale, because theThe main goal is to provide a substantial and durable product over time, to be used on the road and in the gravel field.
