Zéfal Shield R35
It's the one specifically for road bikes, or in any case for bikes with 700, 650c, or 28-inch wheel diameters. It has a tire coverage range of 23 to 30 millimeters, but once adapted and secured correctly it can cover tires up to 32 millimeters in section.
It is adjustable and adaptable even to the most modern bicycles which have flattened aerospace-grade profiles. The clamps don't grip the tube directly, but thanks to a gasket that acts as a spacer, the clamp itself and the pressure exerted during closing remain distant and distribute the forces involved.
The mudguard is supported by a sort of arched structure, anchored on two clamps with gear wheelsThe latter offer the possibility of orienting the fender. Furthermore, the upper side of the Shield can be customized in length, thanks to the presence of three spoilers of different lengths.
The package includes two mudguards, front and rear, with everything needed for the various adaptation operations. The list price of the Zéfal Shield R35 is 39,95 euros, the same as the Zefal Shield G50 version..
The Shiled G50 set
G is the acronym that identifies the specific tool for gravel. 50 is the maximum capacity of the tire being protected. That is, 50mm cross-section. In reality the Zéfal Shield G50 is a mudguard that covers a wide range of needs and which can also extend to commuting, or e-bikes used for city and suburban travel. These bikes usually have tires with sections comparable to those of gravel bikes.
Shield G50 borrows the mounting system and kit from the road version, as is the design. It's just a little wider. The MDFix system is easy to applyIt fits well and, once mounted, is both stable and easy to remove. It leaves no marks.
As with the road version, the Zéfal for gravel also has a wide margin of adjustabilityThis means it can cover even the empty space closest to the wheel, while the front one extends significantly downwards. This helps keep the shoe covers dry for longer, a crucial factor when training in the winter on wet roads.
