Ekoi meets the Rising Sun and does so through the unique personality of Fumiyuki BeppuThe connection takes place through the company's know-how and the talent of the designer Mayuki Okuno. Beppu has gone from being a cyclist to a national legend, being the first Japanese to finish the Tour de France in 2009, but also five Grand Tours, eight world championships and two Olympic Games.
The proposal was therefore born Ekoi addressed to Beppu to become ambassador and make a original textile collection that retraces its history. His friend and designer, Mayuki Okuno, brilliantly took on the challenge of designing original graphics proudly inspired by Japanese culture, but also by the key moments in the life of the Japanese champion. Fabric sensitization
The first of the elements to be discovered is a series of numbers on the arms whose illustration and colours represent the shirts of the eight teams in which Fumiyuki Beppu distinguished himself, between 2005 and 2021. While on the back the artist Mayuki Okuno decided to insert a poetic note with a space ship moving away from the Earth in the direction of the Moon to represent the distance traveled by Fumy during his activity. Optimism is one of Beppu's predominant character traits. A serious accident early in his career, which required 30 stitches. An ambassador aware of the issues related to road safety, Fumiyuki Beppu has chosen to propose two thermal winter jackets which allow cyclists to pedal comfortably in the heat and at the same time, thanks to the bright orange and purple colors, to be highly visible. In this regard Ekoi added reflective strips on the flap that protects the front zip and on both sleeves.
