Lace-up shoes are also a confirmation in the professional field, loudly requested by athletes with different characteristics.

New Trek shoes adopt RSL suffix (acronym for Race Shop Limited). They are the top of the range of the Waterloo brand, they are presented in the road and off-road version, the latter certainly for MTB, they wink at gravel racing. Let's go into detail.

Trek RSL Lace, the features

They are designed and developed for high-level use, for those looking for a lot of lightness and not forgetting aerodynamic efficiency, also functional for comfort. Furthermore, and not a secondary factor, the lace-up closure allows for a precise bandaging and complete with the upper from front to back and vice versa. Compared to a footwear with rotors, the one with the laces wraps and wraps the foot in a more homogeneous.

They can exploit good aerodynamics thanks to the laces, without the lateral encumbrances of the rotors. Trek claims a saving of 1,84 watts, measurement taken in the wind tunnel. The Trek lace-up package also includes an aerodynamic band which hides the upper part, that is, the knot. Trek claims 211 grams for the road version, 272 grams for the off-road RSLThe sole is 100% full carbon OCLV, a reference in Trek's house and in an absolute sense, for quality, manufacturing methodology, for the relationship it offers between rigidity and weight saving. the structure of the sole is a kind of skeleton with different thicknesses between the sides, the central part (with increased thickness) and the part where the cleat is anchored.

There are in total 4 open slots for heat and humidity expulsion, there are 3 openings with threaded housings with a wide vertical slide (road model). The sole and shoe are protected (front and back) thanks to two inserts in rubberized material, with the addition of TPU. As for the off-road version, the entire rubber part with the crampons is applied to the carbon sole and there is a SPD cleat predisposition.

Blend of materials to limit heat

It's not just a question of holes and micro-holes in the upper, or the openings in the sole. It's essential to use a blend of fabrics and materials which allow to limit the rise in temperature even in very hot conditions. Trek RSL Lace adopts this solution, thanks to a very thin tongue, thanks to an internal lining that does not accumulate moisture and helps keep the foot fresh for longer.
