How is it assembled? Pogacar's Colnago (Fizza photo in the opening) for the Tour de France? What are the differences compared to the V4Rs used by the Slovenian Champion during the Northern Races? After the accident in Liège, did he ask for any biomechanical changes?

We asked these and other questions directly to Bostjan Kavcnik, mechanic of the Team UAE-Emirates which follows him to Grand Boucle.

Is Tadej a picky guy when it comes to technical choices?

Tadej is a cyclist less demanding than many others and contrary to what one might imagine, he just wants the bike to work perfectly. Pogacar doesn't change components at the last minute, can only happen if something goes wrong.

After the accident in Liège, did he ask you to make any changes to your position on the bike?

No, luckily for him and us the position on the bike after the accident remained the same.

What was the “weirdest” technical request you made?

Tadej is a realist, both as an athlete and as a person. From a technical perspective, he is very competent, wants the best, but he does not ask for any abnormal interventions for his bicycle.

How is your Colnago, the one you're using in the Tour de France, set up?

And 'the Colnago V4Rs, the same model with the discs that it has been using since 2022. From this year we have the Shimano Dura Ace drivetrain instead of Campagnolo, but with the variable of Carbon-Ti crowns. Tadej always prefers to use the 54-40 combination, then based on the stage plan choose the sprocket pack.

How many options do you consider?

It is limited to a double choice: 11-30 or 11/34. It has the Shimano power meter and the cranks are 170mm longPogacar uses Enve 4.5 wheels with hookless rims and differentiated tire sections, 25 and 28 in TT versionThey are tubeless TR Shelf. We have a Darimo seatpost, the Prologo saddle and the Carbon-Ti brake discs, 160 and 140. All bearings are Ceramic Speed. The pedals are Shimano Dura-Ace.

Can you tell us the weight of your bike?

I can say that the bike for the Tour de France è lighter than 405 grams compared to the one with which he won the Tour of Flanders.

And how is the time trial bike assembled?

It's a Colnago TT1, the latest generation, with the Colnago-specific handlebars and Aerocoach prostheses. Even the wheels are Aerocoach. The transmission is Shimano Dura Ace, always with them Carbon-Ti crowns. Pogacar usually uses the 60 or 58, combined with the internal 44.
