MORBEGNO – The morning of the most challenging stage of this Giro Next Gen We had the chance to take a look at the teams' bikes. We focused on those of the Sias Rime: the athletes of the Brescia team in fact use bicycles DraliA simple, eye-catching livery and a design focused on aerodynamics. Without, however, neglecting performance even on steep climbs. The frame, wrapped, is made using HM-M45J carbonThe weight is moderate, however: the scales stop at 960 grams.

The geometries

To delve even further into the technical field we decided to talk about the bike Drali Amethyst with a rider. Dennis Lock, a Danish climber in his first year in Italy, will be the guide. The frame measurements are designed for competition, but not extreme: size 53 includes a reach of 381 millimeters and one 535mm stack.

«It's an all-round bike – says Lock – I really like the geometry and the design. These features make the bike very easy to handle and very agile on descentsPower transfer is good, considering the low rear triangle makes it much easier. The weight, despite the bike having aerodynamic characteristics, is contained, so as to be efficient even on climbs."

The performances testify to what the rider says, the Dane has in fact finished the Giro Next Gen in 15th positionIn the two most challenging stages: Stelvio e Pian del Cansiglio, he managed to always place in the top 20.

Ready to go for the Stelvio stage. Dane Lock will be 19th, 3'31" behind Staune-Mittet.

Components

Often, however, it is the details that make the difference, with technical choices made by Drali that perfectly match the competitive nature of the Iseo Sias Rime team. One of the fundamental parts, the bottom bracket, is designed to have greater smoothness and great reactivity. Drali used the 85.5mm T47 inboard to do this.

«I use Deda's Alanera – adds Lock – an integrated handlebar that helped me get comfortable with the bike's geometryAs a group we have Shimano Ultegra 12-speed: with 11-30 on the rear cassette and 53-39 for the front chainringsWith such a wide range of gears, you can tackle any slope and any climb. The brakes, of course, are disc brakes with standard sizes: 160mm front and 140mm rear.

«The wheels – concludes the Dane – they are the Deda SL with a 45mm profileOnly in time trials do we use the same model at the front but with a 62 mm profile. The tires are Vittoria Next, tubeless, with two choices: 26 mm or 28. We saw together with the mechanics that these sizes are the best for smoothness. Finally, as regards the saddles, Selle Italia supplies us with its best products, I use the SLR."
