Prime Spoon by Bar Fly was born as universal support for the latest generation GPS devices. It is designed for integrated handlebars with different shapes and features a central assembly. Prime Spoon is based on a perfectly straight bracket.
It's a lot simple in design yet substantial and brings with it a dowry large number of accessories to best interface with different bike computers, flashlights, and even GoPros. Let's take a closer look.
Prime Spoon, compatibility is super
As soon as you take it out of the package you can feel the substance. The body and adapter housing are a single block of CNC machined aluminum. The rear section is elongated and acts as a sliding track for the rear screw, while in the center there are three round slots that hold and secure the front screw.
The front of the Bar Fly stand is wider and resembles a cappuccino spoon. It takes the shape of a container, a design that allows you to create alarge support surface for the bike device regardless of the brand, model and adapter used. The latter, those included in the package are as many as seven. Garmin and Bryton, Wahoo and Polar, Cateye, Mio and Omata. To this We also add Hammerhead compatibility which includes a perfectly compatible Garmin adapter. Not only that, because Prime Spoon also allows the mounting of a support (a few grams of weight including the screw), underneath the wider front section, dedicated to the action cam GoPro, or a light/flashlight.
A super rigid support
The big Prime Spoon's rigidity and compactness is real even once the handlebar mount is mounted. It does not flex and is not negatively affected by vibrations, even when fully extended towards the front end, for example when using a large GPS bike device. Stiffness and support in this case make it also rhymes with stability which is necessary when mounting such a component to any integrated cockpit.
Stability also translates into preserve the integrated bike computer hookups, not so much those made of aluminum, but those made of polymer and plastic material, which are more subject to breakage.
