For this autumn-winter Fizik has launched a new version of its most protective off-road shoes, the Terra Artica GTX. Are winter shoes, that is, half-height, insulating and waterproof, to best face the climate and bad weather of the so-called bad season.
Gore-Tex and fleece, insulation and comfort
Shoes like the Terra Artica GTX They must do one thing first and foremost: keep your feet warm and dry. For this reason, Fizik has used the membrane Gore-Tex, a guarantee by definition of insulation and waterproofing. In particular the Cirrus XT version, which in addition to rain protection has been specifically designed to maintain heat, while still being breathable like all Gore-Tex technologies.
If this membrane takes care of the weather, to increase the feeling of comfort, the inside of the shoe is lined with soft brushed fleece. This additional layer also provides even more insulation, exactly what you are looking for during winter outings in bad weather.
High density upper and redesigned sole
As for the external part of the Terra Artica GTX instead, the upper is made of high density PU, a very resistant synthetic material and perfect for letting water, mud and snow slide off. It is also particularly resistant (while not having an excessive weight), which guarantees its durability even for gravel and mountain bike use.
Another very important feature, considering the type of model, is the sole. In this case it is the X5, with stiffness index 5 out of 10, completely redesigned with some new generous rubber-coated studsThis last feature makes it possible to have good grip even on slippery terrain typical of winter.
Finally, a mention of the closing system. Compared to the summer version, the Terra Artica GTX are higher, to better protect the instep from the elementsThe closure at the top is ensured by a Velcro strap at ankle height, while further down he takes up the single Boa by Terra Atlas.
Color (new), weight and price
While everything remains unchanged, the novelty for this season is the aesthetics. The new Terra Artica GTX are now presented in the Desert-Black colorway, with beige upper and black collar and tongueThis joins the previous Total Black and Purple-Black versions.
The declared weight (in size 42) is 432 grams and sizes range from 36 to 48. The price recommended on the Fizik website is 259 €.
