For cycling enthusiasts, road training increasingly (and unfortunately) represents a tangible risk. That's why German company Tocsen, founded on January 7, 2019, in Freiburg, with a spirit of innovation and dedication to cycling, is proposing a real breakthrough for all sports requiring helmet use, including cycling, but also horseback riding, cross-country skiing, and skating. We're talking about the new Tocsen impact detector. That is, an electronic device featuring an extremely precise three-axis accelerometer. It attaches directly to the helmet, making it lightweight and unobtrusive.

Rescue and community
The purpose of this system is twofold. The first is to promptly send a signal and the exact GPS location of the accident to emergency responders, via the free Tocsen app (available in iOS and Android digital stores), if the athlete involved is unable to call them. The importance of this innovation is particularly evident in places that are generally isolated, more frequented by cyclists due to the lack of traffic and at the same time less accessible by emergency vehicles..
The second purpose is to create a community among users and constitutes its strong pointBy downloading the app, even without having the device, you can make yourself available to cyclists and become a rescuerIf someone has an accident and the device sends the help message, sends it to emergency contacts and anyone who has made themselves available and is nearbyThe probability of being found and rescued thus becomes enormously higher.
Please remember that the data entered into the App will be stored on Tocsen servers, in full compliance with privacy regulations.

Long duration
The detector plays an important and delicate role. The fundamental characteristic that must be guaranteed is resistance, which in this case must be considered on two distinct fronts: the battery life which, based on average use, has an autonomy of around 3 months, and the solidity of the material, robust and reliable in compliance with IP67 standards (i.e. complete protection from dust and liquids). It is no coincidence that the detector can be immersed in water without any risk.

Integrated into helmets
The mission of the three pioneers Tocsen, Alexander Schumacher, Malte Buttjer and Andreas Botsch, as we have seen so far, is to increase attention to athlete rescue, which cannot be left to chance. Another interesting detail to note is the growing interest from well-known cycling helmet manufacturers who intend to integrate the Tocsen device into their products. It's no coincidence that a fruitful collaboration has been established with specialized brands such as Uvex and Alpina. The Tocsen impact detector is available in two colors: black and pink. The recommended retail price is €79,90.
