DT Swiss shows its muscles once again. The new ARC 1100 Spline 38 CS (acronym for Carbon Cpokes) become the lightest medium profile aero concept wheelset on the market.
A pair of 38mm high wheels with aero developmentYes, because there are two factors to consider. The first is related to the collaboration with Swiss Side, the second is belonging to the DT Swiss Aero+ categoryLet's go into detail about the Swiss company's new wheels.

The technical solutions
Let's start from the circle. The new ARC 1100 Spline 38 CS borrows entirely il full carbon rim of the current version ARC 1100 Dicut 38It is a full carbon 38mm high, with a 20 internal channel and the hook for engaging the tires (tubeless ready and not hookless). The channel provides for the use of tubeless tape. Compared to the existing version, the first major difference is linked to the presence of a sort of nipple (one for each spoke) that emerges from the rim. Over the years, DT Swiss has accustomed us to completely hiding the nipples and the spoke attachment system inside the rim.
It is a important technical change for DT Swiss, a necessary way to give greater strength to the carbon spoke heads, accommodate different tensions (compared to steel profiles) and facilitate any maintenance operations. But the entire spoke/hub system is different. The carbon spokes are 18 for the front wheel, with a mixed solution between radials and second crossing. For the rear wheel they are 24 total and with second-round crossing from both sides. The spokes themselves are not a product that comes out of DT Swiss headquarters, but are made by Vonoa according to the specifications of the Swiss company. All the nipples are made of aluminum.

DT Swiss Spline 180 Hub
To tell the truth, the new hub looks a lot more like thelatest version of the Dicut 180From the latter it borrows the glossy black livery and the chrome (mirrored) finishes and the flanges that seem to be a major part of the Dicut design.
The front wheel hub is quite discharged from the non-disc side and has the flange raised on the caliper side. That rear is flanged on both sides, with a very particular process that tends to strengthen, protect and stiffen the spoke anchoring points. The freewheel mechanics are of the matrix DT Swiss Rachet System EXP with 36 tooth sprockets.

What does Aero+ mean?
We have in front of us a wheel that is born with an important aerodynamic concept at the base, which makes no sense exclusively when considering wheels from 50 millimetres in height onwards. Even a 38mm profile can have an in-depth analysis of aerodynamic data behind it and the ARC 38s are an example of that.
This means that the design, shape and volume of the wheel/tyre system are developed to minimize resistance, exploit the sail effect to your advantage e do not put weight on the steering section. An ARC 38 Aero+ The new generation may not be as fast as a 55 or a 65, but it will have lower rolling resistance than the category average.

Other details to consider
The new ARC 1100 Spline 38 CS are declared to 1.174 grams of weight without tires, 1.781 grams with the Continental/Swiss Side tire system. In front of the model Aero111 26, tubeless ready and mounted with a TPU inner tube, behind a classic 28mm GP5000s TR, also tubeless ready and mounted with a TPU inner tube. list price is 3.199 euros.
