The success of the Slovenian champion Tadej pogacar, current yellow jersey to the Tour in force at UAE Team Emirates It's also due to the components that equip his Colnago V3Rs. Today we're talking about the Campagnolo Bora Ultra WTO (Wind Tunnel Optimized) that Pogacar is using on French roads, alternating them with the Campagnolo Bora One.

Various profiles
The Bora Ultra WTO disc brake wheels embody everything Campagnolo represents for world cycling: passion, love, and the utmost professionalism. To give you an idea of the research and dedication that goes into creating the Bora Ultra WTO (available with 33, 45 and 60 mm profiles) lasted three long years.

Innovative technique
Among the technologies used to create them we find HULC (Hand Made Ultra-Light Carbon) thanks to which it was possible for Campagnolo engineers (who developed the project at the headquarters in Vicenza) to optimize the use of fibers and resin, obtaining remarkably light wheels. Taking into consideration the various profiles, their weight is: 1,385 kg for the 33 mm profile, passing through the 1,530 kg of the 60 mm profile up to 1.425 grams of the 45 mm profile. The Bora Ultra WTO wheels are also designed for tubeless use, for which Campagnolo has created the Luxury mirror finish (C-Lux) which improves the positioning of the tire, making it safer. This finish, also present on the front hub, is perfectly smooth and does not require the use of paint. Finally, it manages to reduce weight and improve the aesthetics of the wheels.

Careful workmanship
Campagnolo engineers also focused on aerodynamics, improving it with internal Aero Mo-Mag nipples. This system ensures smoother, more efficient airflow and allows the nipple and valve holes to be machined directly from the rim mold, without having to drill holes in the carbon fiber. An additional advantage is the improved tubeless assembly thanks to the total absence of tape. The elliptical spokes have also allowed for an improvement in the aerodynamics of the Bora Ultra WTO, which, thanks to its behaviour on the road and these technical features, have won the trust of the Slovenian Pogacar.
Hubs and spokes
The spoke system is the G3, a hallmark of the Vicenza-based company. This offers excellent power transfer, a key aspect for Pogacar, and improves braking. The hubs are made of different materials: the front one is carbon and the rear one is aluminum. This choice allows for the balance of the different forces acting on the wheel's cyclic system. given that the front one has a disc brake and the rear one also has an integrated body. The bearings inside the hubs instead use Ceramic Ultimate Level Technology (CULT) and have a narrower flange capable of improving their smoothness.

The internal channel of the Bora Ultra WTO varies depending on the profile. The 33mm wheels have an internal channel width of 21mm, while the 45mm and 60mm wheels have a width of 19mm. Finally, remember that the Bora Ultra WTO use the Next 3Ways (N3W) freehub body which can accommodate Campagnolo cassettes up to 11, 12 and 13 speedsThe new wheels are also available with Shimano HG and Sram XDR freehub bodies.
The recommended retail price starts from 3150 €.
