After introducing herself to the world in 2019 as the fastest gravel ever, here it is Rough it gets even better. Cervélo announces this new model with some improvements: the asymmetric bottom bracket with T47a thread, a tidier cable routing and a UDH compatible derailleur mount for those who want to use Sram drivetrains.

More aerodynamic

Another feature of the Áspero is certainly its improved aerodynamics. Performance from this point of view is not so much about speed as an end in itself as it is about energy savings, achieved thanks to the reduction of resistanceSaving watts translates into a power gain that is expressed effectively and measurably.

In addition to the reduction of aerodynamic drag, they have been lowered the seat stays to give a little more grip to the rear and slightly reduced front-end stiffness to make for even more transverse comfort. A little more mud clearance has been created between the lowered seatstays, capitalizing on what we learned from the R5-CX (and the 2023 Unbound Mudfest). These are many seemingly small improvements, but they add up to tangible benefits. The result is a bike that looks a lot like the original Áspero, but is actually faster, more comfortable and more versatile.

Specifications

Áspero uses the asymmetric bottom bracket with T47a thread Cervélo pioneered this on the R5-CX. This simple and manageable interface offers the benefits of BBRight in a more user-friendly form. The Áspero shares the same bearing dimensions as the R5, Soloist, R5-CX, and Caledonia, meaning any headset and stem combination can be used.

With Sram's 2023 introduction of new mountain bike drivetrains. Also the Áspero uses the standard Universal Derailleur Hanger (UDH), to give you the chance to try out all the different modes. This feature broadens the range of uses for this new Cervélo model.
