The Swiss brand never stops introducing improvements to its products, small details that often make the difference. In this case Effetto Mariposa presented the Caffélatex tubeless valves updated and a new measure of the Shelter protective tape.
An additional function
Let's start with the tubeless valves, which are Effetto Mariposa's flagship product and are very popular among cyclists. Among the factors that have made them so sought-after are the modular rubber base, which goes from flat to conical with the simple use of a waterproof adapter, three lengths available 40, 70 and 100 millimetres and the red aluminium cap.
Effetto Mariposa has updated these valves. In addition to the silver version with red cap, a new one has been added. all-black version which has an additional function in the aluminum cap. Now it can be used as key to tighten the valve mechanism, while keeping weight to a minimum. As for sizes, three different lengths are still available to meet all needs. Black tubeless valves are now also standard with Caffèlatex Tubeless Kits and Caffèlatex Tubeless Strips.
What length?
The length of the valve must be carefully evaluated based on the height of the circle, which changes depending on whether you use the conical adapter or not. For example, the 70mm valve can be used with rims with a height ranging from 34 to 64mm with the adapter and with rims with a height ranging from 37 to 67mm without the adapter. Effetto Mariposa has informed us that the'use of the conical adapter It is required in the case where the valve hole is slightly wider than the standard 6,5 millimetres or in cases where the rim is a little deeper than average.
Wider, more protection
Another novelty concerns the transparent protective tapes Shelter, which are currently available in three different thicknesses: Off-Road Shelter 1,2mm, Shelter Road from 0,6 mm and Shelter ZeroDue from 0,2 mm. All versions are available in 1 or 5 meter rolls.
The novelty lies in the width of the rolls, which until now has had a standard width of 58 millimeters. A measurement that was considered sufficient to protect most frames.
