If a team like the Visma – Lease a Bike Customers rely on a brand and a specific product because they've seen high standards in that brand. Quality comes first, but also a willingness to work specifically on that same product. Finally, a company history that certifies its reliability.

If we consider that last year the yellow-and-blacks chose a new brand for their bike groupset (SRAM) so they could work hand in hand, perhaps the idea is clearer. They also did the same for their shoes (Nimbl). And so if... for their heads they rely on Giro helmets, the mere choice of the Californian brand is synonymous with guarantee.

The Aries Spherical

We had the pleasure of using the helmet Giro Aries Spherical Mips, the lightest helmet (270 grams) in the range. If we want it, it's also the most suitable for summer and for climbers, given that it's precisely in summer that the biggest climbs and also the highest granfondo races are tackled, and given its enormous ventilation.

Spherical, like Spherical Technology, a system based on MIPS, which allows the helmet's two main shells to rotate relative to each other. The one protecting the head is fixed, while the outer one is movable and comes into contact with any obstacles.

Progressive layering with dual density Nanobead EPS foam facilitates even more accurate impact energy management, causing the same energy to be dispersed over a larger surface.

Super cooling

From here, we move on to all the specifications, starting with the air vents. We talked about a highly ventilated helmet, but this feature often clashes with aerodynamics.

With Aries Spherical Mips this is not the case. The 24 air intakes have been optimised in the wind tunnel: woe betide anyone who compromises this increasingly important feature in today's cycling.

But the helmet's cooling capacity is also more efficient. Aries surpasses the ventilation benchmark of the previous Aether model by 2,3 percent, thanks to airflow that significantly increases exhaust from the rear.

Total comfort

Another very important aspect of a helmet is its fit. And here, comfort must reign supreme. The DryCore material system reigns supreme. Hidden inside the eyebrow pad is a soft silicone bead that redirects sweat away from your forehead. and towards the temples, where it can evaporate more easily.

The helmet has a micrometric adjustment at the rear, super simple, and combined with the three sizes, it fits practically every head. A very convenient detail is the space for glasses, should you decide to take them off while climbing.

The Aries Spherical Mips is available in ten colors, including the replica of the Visma-Lease a Bike.

Finally, we remind you that in Italy Giro products are imported from Cicli Bonin.
