VIAREGGIO – Predator Prologue 01TT It is a one-of-a-kind saddle in terms of concept, technology and even design (called V-Shape). destined to change the gameAn extreme product in every way which was also born thanks to the collaboration with the Team Visma-Lease a Bike.

Edoardo Affini and Wout Van Aert have actively participated in the development of the new Predator 01TTThe new saddle was officially presented on the rest day preceding the time trial in Tuscany.

A patented Prologo saddle

A non-secondary detail. The Prologue Predator 01TT is a patented project which began to take shape 18 months ago. It is a revolutionary saddle for everything it brings. It has a full carbon fiber body in one piece, but the rail is separate and removable.

«It's not a real rail, I would rather call it a plate – he tells us Salvatore Truglio responsible for Prologo in Italy – who can be removed if necessary. It's modular, can be easily replaced and recycled. The first step of a more complex project and wide that, without sacrificing anything in terms of technology and performance, it also gives a nod to sustainability».

Aerodynamic and ergonomic saddle

Predator 01TT part of the CFD simulation and the design has been refined over months in the wind tunnel and thanks to feedback from riders. It is only 110 millimeters wide (260 millimeters long in its entirety) and is designed to allow the maximum rotation of the pelvis in the athleteIn the center there is a PAS (DNA Prologo) channel that divides the saddle into two distinct portions in the front and middle section, while the entire rear section (the tail) is a real carbon shell.

The two sections (170 mm long) are covered with increased EVA padding. It is available version without CPC (used by Affini), or the one with the two CPC inserts that increase grip (Van Aert uses the CPC version).

Two widths available

They are based on the width of the nose. The narrowest one is 50mm wide, the widest one is 60mm., a factor that also affects the value on the scale. 135 grams declared for the narrow one, 159 grams for the wider oneThe list price is one of the important ones, 1.250 euro.

Prologo Predator 01TT comes with a special mounting kit, to make it compatible with the seatposts available on the market.

Edoardo Affini's considerations

«When the agreement between the team and Prologo was made official – he tells us reigning European champion, Edoardo Affini – we immediately started working on the different products. Van Aert and I in particular focused on the development of the Predator. We started with some track tests, supported by considerations relating to feel and comfort.

«The shape of the saddle that we see today – continues Affini – is daughter of a journey that has seen several stepsIt is slightly curved in the front section, so as to facilitate front unloading, without negatively affecting forward sliding. Personally I prefer to have a minimum of freedom and not use CPC. I would add – concludes Affini – even though I don't use this type of saddle every day, I don't find it difficult to switch from the traditional saddle that I mount on the S5 (Cervélo) to this super specific for the time trial bike. One of the big advantages is the freedom that it offers to the entire basin».
