MISANO ADRIATICO – Lightweight has officially launched its new wheel system. Is called Meilestein ART and it also represents a sort of evolution of the German company. New materials and production processes, renewed engineering solutions and the analyses dictated by the wind tunnel.
Meilestein ART ha a tubeless ready rim (not hookless, therefore perfectly compatible with inner tubes and tires), has all carbon spokes inserted into the rim. As per tradition Lightweight and an aluminum hub that also acts as the seat and pivot point of the rim-to-rim profilesLet's look at Meilestein ART in detail.

New wheel, same Lightweight craftsmanship
Meilestein ART is a completely new system, from every point of view. It is difficult to get close to the wheels Lightweight of the past, But the handmade and artisan quality production remains, a source of pride for the German brand. For Meilestein ART, the research, design, development, and production processes, as well as the installation of the carbon fiber skins, have been completely rethought.
An example is the Alpha Rib technology, which partly exploits the knowledge and DNA of the past, a solution that opens new frontiers to the category and never used before. The carbon spokes fit directly into the rim, there are no nipples or metal elements and they do not stop at the top wall of the rim, but they continue downwardsEach of the 24 spokes is connected (supported) to a sort of internal bulkhead of the circle, a membrane that supports, strengthens, balances and makes the product unique.
The circle is tubeless ready and does not require plastic tape inside the channel (22,9 mm wide). It means that the Meilestein ART is optimized for 28" tires, but it is optimally configured with 30 and 32 tyres (remaining in an area where it is important to fully exploit the potential of the Lightweights).

40mm high and one-piece spokes
Wide internal width, perfectly in line with the current demands of a market that is increasingly moving towards large tyres. The ART rim is 45mm high and rounded, a design also dictated by the wind tunnel, a solution that allows for "lightening" the driving phases, preventing the wheel from commanding and dictating the driving lines. This is not a trivial and secondary detail, considering that a Lightweight is as high-performance as it is appreciated and desired by different types of users. Still on the subject of the rim, there is a smooth finish, with the carbon yarn no longer woven.
The spokes are rim-to-rim, are crossed in second and at the crossing point they adopt the historical “ligature” reinforcement, performed with a carbon skin. Each single spoke starts from a point on the circle, without interruptions and arrives from the opposite side, a single block. Each single profile is rests (and is glued) to the aluminum hub flanges. The two hubs, front and rear they do not have oversized dimensions (they do not have carbon flanges), they have good aerodynamic efficiency and contribute to keeping the value on the scale, which is very low. 1190 grams declared for the wheels on the road. The hubs have the internal mechanics which are based on the DT Swiss Rachet System. The list price is one of the important ones and goes up over 6000 euros.
