Mcipollini relaunches the challenge with a bicycle with traditional technical features. Dolomia Velum It doesn't have disc brakes, but calipers, a super light weight and exclusive components.
It was presented to theItalian Bike Festival in Misano Adriatico and is inspired by the original Dolomia project.
Dolomia Velum, only 13 specimens
It was produced in just 13 pieces, a jewel to look at and to touch, but perfectly usable and dedicated to climbing lovers. Dolomia Velum It has the same shapes and the same concept as the Dolomia with disc brakes, which from a design point of view is based on the seat stays with low insertion and generally not excessively large tubes. One of the main features of the Dolomia is the hand-made carbon lamination, capable of combining technique and construction quality.
The bicycle stops the needle of the scale at 5,76 kilograms declared and it is very expensive, with a list price that touches the 22.000 €. It's definitely not for everyone.
Hand-made lamination
All the frames of the Dolomia family They are hand rolled and real molds are used, considering also that the frame is a single blockThe main triangle and the rear triangle are one and the same. The Dolomia project, as is the case with the Velum, differs slightly in design from the others in the road range, especially due to the slim dimensions of all the tubes. It is a bike designed for climbing, but which also aims to be fun in more technical contexts.
The seat stays join the seat tube with a sort of embrace, where the thicknesses are reduced. The significantly lowered chainstays have allowed the bicycle's center of gravity to be moved lower, with significant advantages in terms of handling and agility.
The components
The frame and fork are completely made of carbon, as is the seat post that is specific for the Dolomia. The steering area has an ACR design to fully exploit the internal cable and housing routing, without bottlenecks or forced blockages. The handlebar is the Deda Alanera.
The transmission is Shimano Dura Ace Di2, but with the variant of the THM Clavicula cranksetThe saddle is of Selle San Marco. Last but not least the wheels, the Lightweight Meilenstein with Tufo tubulars.
