AMP is the acronym for “amplifyed” and identifies the BMC e-bike family. New Roadmachine AMP 01 X it is not a reinterpretation of the model launched at the end of June. This version X aims to complete the offering in this product segment, thanks to its versatility.

The design and aesthetic impact are those of the Roadmachine family, a platform dedicated toendurance. But here there is theTQ electrical unit, which in this configuration is the lightest in its category: 3900 grams, 360Wh and lots of integration, With the possibility of increasing autonomy thanks to a 160Wh power range extenderLet's look at it in detail.

Geometry is endurance

The geometric development of the Roadmachine adopts a concept aimed at maximizing comfort and performance over the long termThe same concept is also used on the new AMP 01 X.

La BMC endurance geometry has the peculiarity of using one increased stack (for example in size 54 it is 57 centimetres), a reduced reach (38,3 centimeters) and a 6,3cm fork trail (rather advanced and open at the front). The combination of these factors allows for a stable vehicle in any situation (even off-road), which does not require sacrifices once in the saddle. The same geometry leads to using an upright position (more than a race segment), limiting the downward pressure on the front.

The rear carriage is short, thanks to the 42 centimetre long sheaths, a value common to all sizes. For maximize the usability of such a compact tank, which is not common in this category of bicycles, the steering column has been shaped, precisely to facilitate the passage of the wheel.

AMP 01 X, how it's made

It is a e-bike road with full carbon Premium frame kit, Or the top of the range of BMC series productionA frameset includes a frame, fork, and seatpost with a 15mm offset. The seatpost uses a D-Shape design with a truncated rear profile. The seatpost integrates a rear light that is connected directly to the main battery.

The electric support unit is signed by TQ with the HPR50 versionIt is light and powerful, silent, integrated (the battery is hidden in the downpipe) and theThe crankset footprint is minimal, thanks to a Q-factor of 158 millimetres. Another peculiarity is related to the very high level natural feeling: at times it seems like you are pedaling on a traditional bicycle. This TQ unit it is configured with the new US legislation, which allows e-bikes to class 3 to reach 45 kilometers per hour. There's a 2 "display positioned at the top of the horizontal profile.

Space for tires and fenders

The BMC Roadmachine AMP 01 equipped with 35mm wide tires, But the 38 tires fit without any problem. It is also possible to mount the fenders and it's not just a simple detail, because they make this bicycle even more versatile and usable even for short daily trips.

Suspension in the stem

The AMP 01 X features the first integrated suspension stem developed by BMC, that is,ICS MTT stem (MTT, acronym for Micro Travel Technology). Its design integrates perfectly with the design of the bicycle and is developed basis of existing ICS (The cables and housings run inside the handlebar stem, but for maintenance it is not necessary to disassemble the entire compartment, facilitating maintenance). The shock absorbing phase is guaranteed by a system of elastomers with different hardness.

The setups

There are two setups: One and Two, both with the 44-tooth front single chainring mounted on Rotor Vegast aluminum cranksets.

The One version It has a Sram Force AXS transmission with rocker arm and XPLR rear sprockets (10/44). The wheels are CRD-400 SL with full carbon rims, shod with 35 mm Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H tires. Two color combinations are available, for a list price of 8.499 euros. The declared weight on the scales is 12,9 kilograms.

The BMC Roadmachine AMP 01 It stands out for its Sram Rival AXS drivetrain, but the XPLR solution has also been adopted. It features aluminum rims. The list price is €7.499, for a declared weight of 13,3 kilograms.

A peculiarity, linked to the X project and not only to the versions described. BMC Roadmachine AMP 01 X is compatible (and uses) the 180mm discs in diameter, a solution designed to offer increased versatility of use and full usability of the vehicle even in an off-road context.
