FRANKFURT – They are called Deda Gera EDG and Curvy, are the two new forks that the Lombard company has developed with a purely conception gravelThey are very different from each other, in shape, construction and interpretation.
La Gera (adjective which in Lombard dialect means gravel) EDG It is a fork with asymmetric stems that marks a scale weight under 500 grams. The curvy It is identified by its name, thanks to the sheaths thin and curved forward, with a very rounded head and due to the lateral buttonholes useful for the bikepackingBoth offer some very interesting technical insights for the future.
Gera EDG, inspired by the street
The design of this Deda brings it closer to its road sisterThe disc-side blade features a marked asymmetry and the same volumes as the two arms, which are very different from each other (the central stem has a D-shape for internal cable routing). Mudguards can be mounted, but there are no slots for external mounting brackets. But the differences exist and are marked. First of all, compatibility with the brake disc, which in this version can reach up to 180 mm in diameter. The rake is 50mm.
And then there is the compatibility with the assembling a dynamo hub and the corresponding support for the front light, to be mounted on the fork crown. The cable runs inside the blade opposite the disc brake.
Lo tire clearance it is in line with the most modern demands, up to 45 millimeters of section with wheels of classic diameter, up to 50 section with 650b wheels.
The forward-bent fork
It is very particular, for the design of the sheaths, which unlike the Gera EDG, are curved forward (the EDG version has them straight). Despite this, the Deda Curvy has a rake of 50, just like its sister, a factor that allows it great compatibility with different frames.
Increase the light for the tire change, which goes up to 57mm with traditional wheels, even 65mm with the 650b diameter. So much so that it almost borders on MTB. The wide head with reduced thicknesses, but also the two seatstays, flared at the top, contribute to leaving plenty of space for the wheel. Compared to the Gera EDG there are also three rivets per side which provide space for mounting supports and a load that can reach up to 15 kilograms. A truly interesting feature that deserves to be highlighted, from a bikepacking and gravel adventure perspective. For this reason Deda has also provided specific aluminium supports.
La Deda Curvy, however it is not a heavy fork, with a declared scale value of 545 gramsIt has a D-shaped stem for the internal passage of cables and sheaths and is compatible with the DCR headset (just like the Gera EDG). The Curvy is also compatible with the use of dynamo hubs, with the assembly of the front light and the relative internal cable routing.
