MASSA MARITTIMA – Pirelli also officially launches the clincher version of its top-of-the-range tire. Suitable for competitions and for maximised performance, it combines all the characteristics of the LRT, except of course tubeless technology.

The 28mm section weighs very well, combined with the SmarTube TPU inner tube, weighing 35 grams (each) and a 60mm long valve. The weight is only 274 grams. Let's look at the new tire in detail.

High-end Pirelli clincher

Not everyone loves tubeless tires, for various reasons: technical, weight, feel, but also habits borrowed from the past. P Zero Race RS is not intended to be a replacement for the tubeless version, but simply an alternative dedicated to those who want a top-of-the-range, lightweight and super-performing clincher.

The optimal utilization delta of RS is competitive spirit and a sort of endurance interpretation driven by speed, maybe with many meters of positive altitude differenceThe highest performance is achieved when the asphalt temperatures are not low (conceptually it is not suitable for winter and cold seasons in general).

Latest generation mix

Il the tread pattern is the same as the tubeless one, a sort of Pirelli trademark that distinguishes the top-of-the-range tyres (all Made in Italy). It is a rounded and well-balanced tyre in design, with lateral grooves that alternate the Pirelli “lightning” with a shorter, straighter groove. The main task of these ribs (this is the technical name of the carvings) is to create micro-movements of the tread that generate heat and stimulate the compound towards a better hold/fitSecondly, there is the drainage of water and moisture towards the outside.

La The mix is the latest generation SmartEvo2 and the clincher integrates the TechBelt protective band. It acts as protection and strengthens the casing (120 Tpi), a factor which makes the tyre that can be used well beyond racing.

The numbers of the new P Zero RS

The new clincher is available in three widths: 26, 28 and 30, with declared weights of 210, 230 and 245 grams. Each section has an optimal inflation range to be contextualized to the weight of the athlete, but also to the riding style, keeping in mind that Pirelli is one of the very few companies that also provides the optimal interface data between the internal channel of the rim and the section of the tyre, not least the ground clearance which changes between the different widths.
