From a company that has been a benchmark in its field since 1985, you can only expect excellence. That's why when Rudy Project presents a new model of glasses as Astral X, the approach can only be curious. The Venetian company sponsors with its products Bahrain Victorious, but has eyes for all sportsmen.
What is pleasing at first glance about the new glasses is that It is not a lens exclusively for cyclists, neither for its technical characteristics nor for its designLightweight as they are, they go well with any type of technical clothing and can handle any situation, from cycling, running, beach volleyball, canoeing, and cross-country skiing. Even though in this scorching summer, snow seems like a distant mirage.

The collaboration of Johannes Klaebo
There was already an Astral model and it is still possible track it down on the site from the Venetian company. These are very lightweight glasses that offer excellent UV protection and a wide field of vision. Astral X is its evolution: the update or the revisitation. It maintains characteristics such as lightness and stability on the face, but enriches them with a wider lens that provides an even greater barrier to wind and light, further expanding the clarity and breadth of the field of view.
To make it clear the reason for such an update, Rudy Project has announced that the update is derived from the collaboration with athletes of the caliber of Johannes KlaeboThe Norwegian cross-country skier, born in 1996, is a great cycling enthusiast. As can be seen in his Instagram account, he trains with a Uno-X Mobility jersey and at the Tour he took a picture with Pogacar. His palmares says that he is winner (among everything else) of five Olympic medals, nine World Championships and four World CupsA specific model was also dedicated to him and bears his name: ASTRAL X Klaebo, with a bright pink frame, which debuted at the first stage of the 2023/24 season in Ruka.

Featherweight: 28 grams
Shifting attention to the technical sphere, Astral X still has its lightness as its flagship: 28 grams. Thanks to the adjustable nose piece it allows for a practically custom fit and the temples that wrap around the back of the head give the glasses great stability, even in the face of sudden movements or bumpy descents on gravel or mountain bikes.
RP Optics polycarbonate lenses offer a 91% UV protection and clear, precise vision in all light conditionsThey are designed to offer vision without color distortion, ensuring practically perfect perception. The technology with which Rudy Project creates them, combined with the anti-reflective treatment, reduces glare and increases contrast, allowing for a more defined upper vision: essential when driving at high speed.

Sustainable frame
As with the previous model, the temples are made of Rilsan® (a polymer derived from castor oil), which make the frame resistant, flexible and sustainable in terms of production. Furthermore, riding a now historic record, Rudy Project offers for Astral X the possibility of adopting a RX insert, allowing all athletes to practice their activity without giving up vision correction.
Astral X is available at the price of 139,90 euros in 5 different color variations in the best shops or on the company website.
