It's been 14 years since Johan Vansummeren raised his arms in the Roubaix velodrome wearing a garment never seen before in a road race: a designer bodysuit CastelliWhat then seemed like an eccentric pursuit of marginal gain is now the norm. And the bodysuits, once used only for time trials, they have become the standard uniform of every professional for every type of race.
But not only that, they are now increasingly used by the most demanding amateurs. Today Castelli presents the evolution of that first, revolutionary, garment (which was called Sanremo Speed Suit), launching the Sanremo S Speed Suit.

A “mix” in the name of speed
The Sanremo S Speed Suit body is therefore the point of arrival of that revolution born almost fifteen years ago and the Its strong point is, of course, speed. But how do you build a bodysuit? By putting together the Jersey and the most aerodynamic shorts available. In fact for the upper part in Castelli they based themselves on the new Aero Race 8S Jersey, which uses seams studied using CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and a special engineered ribbed fabric on the shoulders and sleeves.
For the lower part were inspired by the Free Aero Race S Bibshort, with Forza2 Stretch fabric that adheres perfectly to the body, for maximum comfort and minimum air resistance. bottom is the Progetto X2 Air, seamless, with the upper part in soft Skin Care and multiple and differentiated density padding, to best adapt to the shape of the body.

Studied in the wind tunnel
This mix of materials and technologies results in aerodynamic gains that have been studied and quantified in the wind tunnelThe special fabric on the shoulders (the area that first impacts the air) of the Sanremo S Speed Suit has recorded a saving of watts which can arrive, according to the company, up to 6%.
Tests conducted on the shorts instead showed a reduction in the aerodynamic coefficient of 3%. Furthermore all the materials are really very light, to ensure optimal breathability and comfort even during the most intense efforts.

Other details, weight and price
The Sanremo S Speed Suit has a very tight V-neck that adheres to the skin perfectly, opens completely at the front for better ventilation and features the classic three pockets on the back. sizes range from XS to XL, while the colors are two: total black, or white on the upper part and “mochaccino” on the lower part. The weight, in size M, is 305 grams while the recommended price, on the website of Castelli, and of 299,95 €.
