«We called it 70, like the years we celebrate since the forging of Ugo's first creature», with these touching words in De Rosa launches the 70, the latest jewel from the Lombardy manufacturer. The first in “after Ugo”, owner of the great cycling company.

«This – they continue from the Milanese company – It is the De Rosa bike that contains every single drop of passion poured by Ugo and his entire family, for all those who live every day with a bike in their hearts."

A long project

The veils on the De Rosa 70 were lifted this morning. It was a 22-month project in which every single detail, every single component was taken care of to create a bike without compromises. A bike in which lightness, stiffness, and aerodynamics have been maximized. The design, too, has been enhanced thanks to the proven collaboration with Pininfarina.

So let's go into the details of the De Rosa 70. Its frame is a monocoque weighing just 730 grams in size 54. At first glance, it appears to be an extremely elegant, yet aerodynamic bike.

The lines are "traditional," so to speak. A slightly sloping geometry reduces the weight of the frame itself and enhances the ride.

And speaking of out of the saddle, the seat post is hexagonal in shape. This way, both aerodynamics and (above all) rigidity benefit once again.

The tubes are profiled. Two "blades" to slice through the air. But also two structurally important blades. These tubes make the 70 super rigid, obviously also thanks to the carbon fiber used and its installation. It goes from the 5K of the wagon, moving on to the 1K which fades into unidirectional on the body of the frame, in its entirety.

Aerodynamics first

The front end is meticulously designed. The head tube has no sharp edges, specifically to improve aerodynamics. Continuing the philosophy of efficiency with airflow, but also aesthetics, all cables are integrated.

The fork is clearly full carbon and weighs just 280 grams. Always looking at the bike "from the front", the air flows have been studied together with those of the rear triangle, to ensure that the air itself can escape as quickly as possible and with the least impact on the bike+cyclist package.

However, the profile of the fork and the seat stays of the rear triangle are not only “aero”, but also give a sense of robustness. And in fact The 70 promises to be rigid, but also comfortable when it comes to vertical stress. Although the tires and wheels that will then be mounted on it also play a big role in this sense.

Still on the subject of rigidity, the bottom bracket shell is also quite robust, despite not having massive dimensions.

Everything at the top

As for assembly, a bike of this level deserves only the best. The De Rosa 70 can fit all three top-of-the-range electromechanical groupsets from Sram, Campagnolo and Shimano. For wheels it is offered with Campagnolo Hyperon or Bora Ultra WTO, Fulcrum Speed and Vision SL.

The handlebar is a dedicated Vision/FSA, while the saddles were sourced from Selle Italia or Fizik in Italy. The tires chosen are Vittoria Corsa NEXT.

This is what the factory commented: «The result: the most advanced De Rosa ever».
