To tell us about the territory by leading us to discover the secrets of the At Monte Grappa, we entrusted ourselves to world champion Alessandro Ballan. Born and raised in Castelfranco Veneto,, knows every inch of the roads the group will face in this second leg.

A enhancing the territory and making it unique is the gastronomy famous for its cheeses, wines and Prosecco. In particular with the Chef Alex De Luca, let's discover the dish of the day, Carnaroli risotto with Piave DOP stravecchio.

At the table with the Chef

The culinary journey through the five stages continues, embracing and paying homage to the specialties of the Veneto region.Il Food Project, managed by Federico Da Re, which will characterize Each stage arrival with the promotion of typical products – explains Chef Alex De Luca, of Filo Eventi – is present for the second appointment. For this stage we will propose a very mature Carnaroli risotto with Piave DOP ».

Local gastronomy

La Castellana gastronomy still maintains the most authentic values of the local peasant cuisine, enhancing and bringing typical local products to levels of refinement.

Among these stand out the famous Bibanesi artisanal breadsticks of the Da Re company of the province of Treviso. Following a vast wine tasting offered by the winery Vanzella, Caldella estates of Treviso, and fromfarm To the Gauls of the province of Venice. As a typical dessert, it will be proposed by CNA Asolo, the Ghisola.

Mount Grappa

What kind of climb is it? How could it impact the overall standings? Alessandro ballan, he answered us like this: «The Monte Grappa was my training groundIt's a long climb, close to my house. I used to do it often. Maybe not all of it because it's very long, but I often did the first few sections four or five times a week, even two or three times a day. This year they'll do it on the side a little further from my house. The easiest part is the Cadorna side., the slope they make already makes it difficult due to its length. It goes up in steps, with challenging sections. We are talking about a climb of more than 20 kilometers so obviously for pure climbers.

«There will be some big gaps. As for the rankings, maybe not so wide because the riders, being in the second stage, are fresh. It's the classic stage that doesn't reveal who will win the Adriatica Ionica Race but will certainly reveal who won't be able to do so."

Castelfranco Veneto

The place that will host the start of the second stage of this Adriatica Ionica Race will be Castelfranco Veneto, a city that has always been famous for its proximity to cycling.

«We are talking – says Ballan – about Treviso province, the one with the most members, the most cycling-friendly in Italy. There are many companies working within the bicycle sector. From specific mechanical parts, to frames, to technical textiles and much more. You can smell the two-wheeled atmosphere in every cornerThis territory has been, and is, a breeding ground for riders, an example of which can be my generation with Tosatto, Gatto, Bandiera and many others. Castelfranco is rapidly developing its bike paths, especially gravel bikes. It's a town that strongly believes in this activity.

«Like all the surrounding towns, we are fortunate to have a living history, for example the 1300th-century castle, which houses the walled city. Then there's the square, where every week you can find the market that fills the loggias and the square. For art lovers, it's the birthplace of Giorgione. It is possible to see his works. In particular, one of his most characteristic paintings, "The Castelfranco Altarpiece."
